Thanks for the links! Kayla McBride (K-Mac) has played a couple of stints for Fenerbache over the years, so she'll be there, as well. Look forward to seeing this semi-final quite a bit.

Unless the WNBA is going to start paying more, I don't see the players turning down the money that the European leagues are offering. If you have enough high value players playing and staying to play in the playoffs, missing their cutoffs. It may just force the WNBA to move the season back instead of missing the play of people like Stewie and others.
The might be giving up a lot of endorsements here in the USA if they do that. Not sure but when you look at Net Worth of the players they make way more from aligning with corporations that they do playing basketball.

Karlie finished the season, including playoffs, at 55.6% overall fg shooting, three point average at 11.3%, and 91.2% FT average. Not many players can finish a year at 50-40-90 #'s.

Can you double-check Karlie's shooting stats. 11% doesn't seem like her.

3 pt fg% forty seven.three%, including 21 regular season and 4 playoff games.
2 pt fg% 67.8%
FT % 91.2%
Overall fg% was 55.6%

Gremlin in the BY system? When I type (forty seven. three %) it converts to 11.3%

Watching the semi-final between Fenerbahce and Schio. Halftime with Schio up by a few:
  • Stewie has 15 on some very earned points and Schio would be up more without her. She works so very hard.
  • Schio looks to run and facilitate open looks for three's. So far, so good. Keys playing well for them.
  • Mabrey has nine with a three, an intermediate jumper and has added some fine assists. Her ball-handling has improved every year she's playing pro ball.

Fenerbache wins, 77-70, over Famila Schio. Monster third quarter (25-14) put the Turkish squad up, but Schio cut it down to three with 2+ minutes left, but then Meessemann, Stewie and Vandersloot each scored to put it away. While Fenerbahce did most of their damage down low, Schio was firing away from the outside. Very entertaining game.

Stewie is a walking bucket right now in the championship game. She already has 24 points and it’s only the second quarter

Pretty cool that the record Stewart beat was held by Diana. Uconn pedigree on full view!

So, before Stewie's masterpiece, the Bronze Medal Game finished in 15 seconds of frenzy, featuring a coast-to-coast lay-up by Marina Mabrey, a jumper by the opposition and then 5 seconds of whackiness that resulted in a 59-56 Famila Schio win. And, yes, if the way Schio got the ball back reminds some folks of the ND-Mississippi State NCAA championship game, I wouldn't blame you.

It doesn’t remind me of the UConn-Miss St game at all since there wasn’t a blown foul call at the end

So, since the last post, Fenerbahce has won the Euro League with Kiah and Breanna, Stewie being name the the MVP
Gabby & Lyon won the Euro Cup

Kiah and Stewie then swept the turkish finals againt Mersin with Tiffany Hayes (3-0)

Lyon and Gabby just finished the regular season with a win, they will meet KML's team of La Roche Vendée in the quarter finals

Here's a link to an article about the difficult choice Gabby Williams will have to make, Marine Johannes will have the same choice to do :

It will be a difficult choice for players on the team, Gabby Williams, Marine Johannes and also Julie Allemand from Belgium

Of interrest, also, Anna Makurat played with Sassari (ITA) this season, they lost 2-0 in quarter finals
Anna finished with good stats of 10.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5 assists in the 26 games regular season.
In 9 of their 10 Euro Cup games, she was 11.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists

If Fenerbahce keeps the same team, there is a great chance to succeed in repeating

All of the top 6 winning players have won with Ekaterinburg - Since the ukrainian war and BG's detention, it's pretty sure Russia will never again (at least for the next few seaons) attract players, so Turkey is the best paying and most able to get titles.

The top 10 in a few years will get a lot of players having played for a turkish team

When the war is done, I think Russia will still attract top talent. Sadly, money talks. Some top volleyball players are still playing in Russia in spite of them not being able to compete on Euro or other international leagues.
