"Other" games of note, Week 2 (Nov. 12-18)

It was 25-25 at halftime. Now its Northwestern 54-29 at the end of the third period. I've seen enough.

Rice has taken a 4-point lead over A&M with 6:25 to play. Surprisingly, Rice's scoring has been led not by Ogwumike and Mulkey, but by freshman Schwartz (17) and junior Wiggins (13).

A&M has 29 from Carter and 19 from Wells, but only 7 from everyone else.

A couple months ago, it was the Rice volleyball team that shocked the visiting Texas volleyball team. Now the WBB team trying to drop an L on a top-5 bigname Texas brand.

And for this reason I highly question A&M making it extremely far this season/post season. Its too much of a one/two man show. Hard to have consistent success with that. Not saying they aren't a good team but the current system is not something that can work consistently, but thats just my opinion.

Carter nearly got in a fight with Rice's Jasmine Smith. Carter fell after going for a steal and got called for a foul, and then Smith stepped over her.

I haven't really understood the Texas A&M as contender thought. They might win the SEC, but it's hard for me to see how the team they've been is going to make a dramatic leap.

I think you've gotta give her one more year just because of how good the 2021 class is in Georgia, with Johnson, Feagin, Hollingshead, McPherson, etc., but depending on how that goes, it would be time for her to go IMO. She had a very underwhelming 2020 class, missing on practically everyone.

With the way things are looking, GT very well be taking some of those players away from Georgia.

Just not sold on Joni Taylor to build or sustain a top caliber program.

Quite a few chairs in the SEC are getting hot as we speak....

It’s like Georgetown when Allen Iverson arrived.

Ogwumike just scored a layup off an inbound play to give Rice a 1-point lead with 23 seconds left. A&M calls timeout to set up a possible game-winner.

Edit: Ciera Johnson gets a putback for the game-winning layup. Rice had no timeouts and barely managed to get a shot off in a wild scramble in the final seconds.

It’s not the same player stepping up to support Carter, though. This was by far the best scoring performance by Wells of the year, while most games A&M gets more from Johnson. Defense was key to this game on both sides, IMO.

Maybe Texas A&M not as good as I thought or is Rice better than anticipated. South Carolina has looked so great so far I believe they are the favorite for SEC, I think the jury is still out on MSST, we have looked really good but have not played a quality opponent yet. Really hope we get to play Stanford in the Canadian tournament.

Yikes, and you guys have to come to Columbia in a couple of weeks.

Not sure its best use of my time and energy to drive 3 hours to witness a curb stomping... and then drive three hours back.:oops::oops: Del Taco is tempting... though.

I saw something happen.... then my video froze. Looked like they were having to hold Carter back

Yeah it was one of her typical hothead moments. She and Smith were guarding each other the entire game and seemed to have a nice 'rapport' by the 4th quarter.

Very little happened. Rice players moved back and Carter got her composure quickly.
