"Other" games of note, Week 2 (Nov. 12-18)

GU drills a 3 at the buzzer, 45-43 Stanford after 3 quarters.

I don't know if the box score is right, shows 5 fouls on one of the Wirth twins from GU already.

The Play by Play shows that she got two Techs so, that somehow got her to 5, maybe?

Lee Ann Wirth apparently picked up a technical in mid-3Q and then a personal foul about a minute later to foul out.

I saw Kiana Williams shooting technical FTs coming back from a media TO, announcer didn't really clue me on what happened.

Apparently the official box score just got corrected. She's listed as having 4 fouls now.

Well a few things come to mind, RU is better than Cal. RU was a pathetic 3/16 from 3 Pt and Maori Davenport only played 8 min-odd in that she’s supposed to be good.
She's still finding her way, plus she's playing behind a senior that has really improved in the off-season. And we didn't shoot the ball very well, compared to our last 2 games where we shot 12-23 and 11-25 from 3.

Is it my imagination or are there way more players on the ground than usual this game? Seems like almost every possession at least 1 or 2 players end up on the floor. I'm wondering if the court is a little slippery or something. This has just been a strange game.

52-49 Stanford 4:27 left, final media TO.

.-.
Lexie w/ a big 3 to put Stanford up 58-56 1:27 left.

TBH, I think they're mostly just flopping. I noticed a few Stanford players make uncharacteristically aggressive motions in response to minimal contact, presumably to try to draw the foul. It happens when you think your acting can get you a free trip to the lane or a charge called on the offense.

We'll call it the Missy effect. This has been a strange game on several counts. I haven't quite put my thoughts together on it just yet.

Townsend with a big 3 to tie it at 60. 47 seconds left.

Ah gotta love it when the live stream only shows the "MAKE NOISE" graphic rather than actual play on the most important possession in crunch time.

The stream is showing the score board rather than the game in the closing seconds. Morons.

FTs for GU w/ a chance to take the lead, 16 seconds left.

.-.
Loera hits 2 huge FTs to give Gonzaga a 2-point lead with 0:17 left. Stanford calls TO with a chance to tie or take the lead.

Williams w/ a layup, 5 seconds left. 62-62.

Gonzaga now has the chance to win the game. Time to cue up the 'MAKE NOISE' screen!

Let's see, one Hull twin is already fouled out, one Wirth sister is a foul away, and Townsend is also a foul from sitting.

Getting Townsend out would be big for Stanford. She's kind of carried GU in the 2nd half.

.-.
Okay, what the heck? Townsend was fouled shooting. After a long conference, Campbell shot technical FTs and GU got the ball back. I'm so confused.

There's #5 on Townsend. There have been a lot of FTs for both teams in OT. This game may never end. 65-64 Stanford w/ Carrington shooting FTs.

FTs:

GU 21-26
Stanford 12-23

If the 'Furd doesn't win, you can point at that.

It may never end because Stanford can't sink free throws. This has been terrible to watch.

Gonzaga won’t go away. No quit. Same with Stanford. I think it has been a great battle between these teams

.-.
Lexie w/ a pair of layups to push the lead to 5. Refs want back in on the action so more FTs coming.

73-66 under a minute left. That should do it. Lexie was huge in the OT.

The spirit of Stanford 2015-16 has infected us tonight. Lots of turnovers, negligible offense, and horrendous shooting rates at the line. The team that took it to Team USA for three quarters is unrecognizable tonight.
You are not giving enough credit to Gonzaga. They are legit
