One of the biggest regrets on my life... missing Woodstock for summer classes.
I missed it too, but ...

I splurged on tickets for Desert Trip in the Palm Springs area this October. Here's the line-up:

Friday night: The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan

Saturday night: Paul McCartney and Neil Young

Sunday night: The Who and Roger Waters

That should cover at least 3 of the anthems on Gus's list. :D

After the demise of David Bowie, Prince, Glenn Frey, Paul Kantner, et al. this year, I figured that these lyrics from Zeppelin applied: "Now's the time, the time is now." So I'm Ramblin' On to the California Desert.

I love a lot of what's already been mentioned. Just to add something slightly more recent, Seven Nation Army from the White Stripes.

And to add another woman to the mix: A fantastic cover of the Donna Summer song. I Feel Love by Venus Hum and the Blue Man Group (and a video that features a dress that lights up)

Can't believe no other mentions of AC/DC -

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
T.N.T.
It's A Long Way to the Top....
Thunderstruck
Highway to Hell
You Shook Me All Night Long
Etc, etc

Stones
Beatles
Tom Petty
Eagles
Dire Straits
Judas Priest
George Thorogood
Deep Purple
The Kinks - What an omission from the anthem mentions - anyone every hear of "Lola" ?
Lou Reed
Beach Boys
Led Zeppelin
BTO
Bad Company
Bob Seger
Cheap Trick
Joan Jett
Heart
Jethro Tull
REO Speedwagon
Doors
The Clash
Van Halen
ZZ Top
Warren Zevon
Steppenwolf
Sammy Hagar

and many more artists with songs that we all recognize in the first few notes but don't spring to mind immediately -

So much music, so little time to listen

Lord knows, we could list, literally, hundreds of songs, but, I've got a soft spot for this one - my "psych" song, before football games, in my youth...
