I went with alexd last night and tried to eat my way through the stadium. I couldn't. They seriously need to train their POS (point of sale) people. At one point I ordered an item, then had to wait over ten minutes to get it. That should not happen. They could also put some tables in the concourse are so you eat a little away from your seat.

Other than that I didn't notice any restroom problems, and the stadium and field look great. I look forward to bringing the family to a future game, and I am probably one of the only people that think this will be a huge success for the city.

Massive crime reduction and lots of redevelopment underway. Even restoring historic buildings. Also setting up more and more corporate outlets.
Hartford PD is excellent under the current Chief. They have their act together and are getting after it.

I dont think the blue fish have really revitalized Bridgeport, sure they probably get a decent showing to games but its not like the area surrounding the stadium has popped up with restaurants and bars
The Gold Coast is expanding into Bridgeport. It's expanding in from the west, Black Rock. Stratfield district and west side are probably next to become much better.

I've been here my whole life. The city was total crap before the Bluefish. No one even thought of moving into even Black Rock. Now, image of the city is changed. Thanks quite a bit to arts and culture. So obtuse.

The Bluefish (one word) did help change the image of the city, as well as the Sound Tigers. These teams don't cause much (yeah, an independent team alone will change a city....please) besides changes in perception and that was still huge for Bridgeport. Totally forgotten city at that point. Learn how to comprehend what people say. I said the city's turnaround started with athletic facilities. That means other things factor in, too. (Duh.)

Took about 20 years to turn Bridgeport around. Hartford should be easier to revitalize.

How did it help change the image of the city? I dont think people say oh bridgeport isnt so bad, they have the bluefish and sound tigers there. Not to mention these are right off the highway and train line requiring someone to not even set foot in the downtown. People still wont go into downtown Bridgeport. If Bridgeport is going through a revitalization its because parts of Fairfield county being so expensive that its forcing families to move further up the coast.

Stamford and Norwalk's building developments have kicked numerous poor families out of their homes and pushed them into Bridgeport or further up. Isnt Black rock on the border of brideport and fairfield? I'd imagine its gotten better due to Fairfield bleeding into it.

Gun killings fell by 40 percent after Connecticut passed this law

Report: Connecticut has one of the lowest rates of gun violence in nation

Poor Deepster. :(

The Yard Goats and Hartford will be fine. Nice to see CT cities slowly be cleaned up and come to life. We're left with Waterbury (which has it's town green being worked on), Norwich, etc. Downtown Norwich is waiting for people to be filled in. New London will be fine with Connecticut College and the Coast Guard Academy.
Norwich is such a beautiful city, right on the Thames with historic architecture everywhere. I did an internship at NFA and there is a ton of potential there. The casinos probably have hurt the shopping and restaurant scene there. However, there is definitely a shift among people wanting to go back to city life and away from malls so we shall see.

The owner of the AA team near where I live has the right attitude.

Can't control the onfield product but has 100% control of the environment and fan experience.

It's AA and the big team can always call up players, have players working on specific aspects of the game, etc. So the team may not be very good.

However, customer service, food lines, in game promotions, etc can be great.

The team has been in stadium for 5 years and has led Southern League in attendance or been second every season and has won just about to very award for stadiums/affiliation of its size.

16 oz aluminum bottles for $6-$7, local craft beers on tap for $8-$10, regular hot dogs $3, etc. Every Saturday night home game has a 15 min fireworks show afterwards. Parking onsite is $7, multiple other lots are $5. Plenty of bicycle taxis for those who are eating/drinking a few blocks away.

The baseball game environment is basically either Happy Hour for those going out later or a night cap for those who have been out all day. The eyeball candy is phenomenal.

I never commented on the state of CT. Just the city of Hartford. How many homicides have there been so far this year? Something like 12-13?

As for the Yard Goats, let's not start the Hartford is back bandwagon yet. It's opening weekend. Let's see what a cloudy Tuesday night in July brings. Or two years from now when the shine wears off and nothing has been developed around that area. I drove right by it this week and there is nothing but parking lots and highway ramps.

Gonna check the stadium out this weekend. The local news has been hyping the snot out of it so they've got the promotional parts covered. Looked great from the overhead shots with the city in the background. If they continue to do this right it could be a real jewel for Hartford. Close to the XL and local businesses.

Still say UConn should get some games scheduled there. Would be a win-win.

They should get a bunch of local CT beers on tap, would be stupid not to. Would attract craft beer lovers to the stadium and also promoted local CT breweries.

I agree 100%. Same at Rent and XL.
A dedicated CT craft beer stand.
Every week or game, switch it up and bring in a new brewery. Let them sell there line up for a series, week, game day etc. let them bring their own kegurators and lines.
NEBCO one week/game and then bring in hooker, city steam, new park, Firefly, Back east, two roads, hanging hills, Stubborn beauty, counterweight, hog river, relic, stony brook, beer'd etc, etc

I'm sure Solomon has some major contract with InBev and probably can't do this, but make deal where the brewer pays Solomon a hefty beer stand fee and a certain % goes to the major distributor to counter the reduced beer sales of crappy beer.

I went to opening day.
$12 for a 32oz beer. (Compared to a 20oz for $9 @ XL and rent)
I saw yuengling IPL, long trail green blaze, nectar of the goats(hooker)
Some blue point beer (LI brewer , couldn't remember name)

Like someone said earlier, I think the boxes and suites had a better selection of cans etc. Walking around the concourse among the common folk, that's what I saw for a beer selection. I settled for a 6.5abv green blaze

I drove by the ballpark today and there was some fat, bald dude in line looking all cocky just because he's going in for a game. Was that you??

Not everyone is about the city life. I think Trumpistan is going to have issues and people will move here.

Just got back from my first Yard Goats game. I'm in town for a conference and it was an easy walk from the Candlewood Suites. Chill vibe, love the omnipresent goat puns and occasional goat bleats through the intercom. Tons of food and beer offerings and overall a solid experience. Pretty cool to see Brendan Rodgers live, what an athlete at SS!

I know (that post is from last year). They played East Carolina there last season and it was a good turnout.

Tulane this weekend, Houston next month. Already bought a ticket for the 5/12 Houston game.
