If way too OT, this will potentially be moved. May prove incorrect, but the NY Times reports LEO may be exploring a link between the Brown & MIT murders

Today, LEO reports suggest a person of interest may have been identified in the Providence investigation. Late afternoon, rumors suggest a grey Nissan sedan (FL plates) possibly associated with the Brown murders may have been located (possibly Salem, NH area).

Juliette Kayyem on CNN said that the murder of the MIT professor looked like an assassination. The wife and I thought these were related right from the start. The house in Brookline was not robbed. It sounds like this manhunt could be over by morning.

I’ve been discussing the connection with friends for a few days now. It’s obvious who is behind both of these shootings and they are only capable of hitting non-military soft targets.

The guy had a great name for an international murderer.

Claudio Manuel Neves-Valente.

Plenty of screen writers wish they could have created a villain name as good as that.

You could almost go back 40 years to Miami Vice and hear Crockett giving g a brief on the newest drug lord and saying his full name.

And then Tubbs chimes in with "Valente".

Or, the A Team with Mr T snarling "Valente".

Or, Dominic from Fast and Furious fame talking g about some black market scum named Valente.

My first thought was of the bad guy that catches up with the family at the carnival in “We're the Millers”.

Because people complained that they would limit protestors who might not want to be caught doing bad things.
And in the instances where we get pics of videos of alleged perpetrators, the resolution quality is grainy and fuzzy like every Bigfoot pic ever lol. Maybe these places should be reaching out to the Middletown PD for advice on getting the resolution quality from their speed cameras?

Not sure if this is a joke but it is not true. The area where the shooting took place was literally right on the edge of campus and the building where it happened is quite old and was not retrofitted with more cameras like the newer buildings. The campus as a whole has 1,200 cameras. This guy just happened to be in an area where there weren’t many.

I like watching that show 48 hours and have been trained now to think they were in big trouble when the investigation got to day 3 with no leads.

I indirectly knew (at least knew of) the MIT professor and got my PhD in the broader organization he was directing (before he was there). Several colleagues knew him well. It's been shocking and upsetting in my field.

It's unfortunate we may never understand a motive, but at least there's some possibility of closure with the killer now dead.

For everyone saying "I knew there was a connection to Brown," that's a pretty lucky guess. It seemed completely coincidental. I hope we find out more.

I don't undertand your last paragraph. He was a former Brown student who took almost all his classes in that building. He also clearly knew the MIT professor.
