OT: The New Pope Is a Villanova Graduate

You folks set the rules around here. I just ask for consistency in applying those rules. The first thread on this forum, from you, lists “Boneyard Rules”. The 2nd rule is “No name-calling or personal attacks.”

Please tell me when it became acceptable to call fans from other schools “jerks and cretins” for no reason other than their affiliation with 2 prestigious Catholic universities? The hypocrisy of some folks is stunning.
Take a break sir. Your perspective is way off. Honestly. You’re way overreacting.

Happens to the best of us from time to time. Take a break from the Boneyard over the weekend. It will do you some good.

Thank goodness Tenn isn’t a religious institution because I fully support calling their fans cretins. :)

I went to a family wedding yesterday. The bride and groom went to BC, his family are BC loyalists, her family mostly went to Notre Dame. The (mostly) friendly trash talk at the wedding was something to behold - the football fanbases really don’t like each other much

I do have to share that both groups admired the Huskies’ run through the tournament this year and offered congratulations - even the ND fans. I made sure to bring my 2025 national championship tshirt to wear this weekend, just to tweak the cousins :)

.-.
Read his post again. @KryHavok was talking about BC’s and ND’s fans, not their ordained instructors and administrators. He said nothing offensive about the pope who sounds like a pretty down to earth everyman, like Pope Francis. I doubt he’d be offended by some rivalry trash talk

Where was this lecturing and condemning when women’s board fans were sneering at ND, Providence, Georgetown, St John’s, Xavier and other Catholic schools?
Growing up near Chicago as a White Sox fan it is likely he partook in some trash talk with his Cubs friends. Although many Sox fans acted like there was only one major league baseball team in Chicago.

Yeah theres nothing to intimidate an opponent like an old frail guy who doesn’t believe in violence
Is this why the Providence Friars can't beat anyone good anymore? ;-) I'll see myself out. ^_^

My younger brother went to BC-
my mom, dad, other bro, sister and I all went to UConn. My dad hates BC for the $$$$ it cost him. That's all it took.
Beautiful campus, great school, great part of town,..
Nope. Don't matter. Haaaaa. Us instate children made him very happy.

My daughter, maybe the world's biggest UConn fan, got her MBA from Villanova. So, she's a happy girl. Me? Not so much when I realized I'm older than the pope. Good for him. Not so good for me :)

Played golf today. Mentioned to one of the guys that we were both older than the pope. He said yeah but he was a Red Sux fan, and the pope was a White Sox fan. He hit an awful tee shot and I said to him maybe the pope doesn't like Red Sux fans (which is understandable).
