The old BE had a number of secular schools including UConn, Syracuse, Rutgers & WV. I was speaking about the current BE or NBE. As for Butler, while the school is non-sectarian, it was founded in 1855 by the Disciples of Christ.UConn has never been the only secular school in the BE.
BE 1.0 included Syracuse at inception
BE 2.0 included Butler when UConn rejoined
it was founded by members of that church, not the church itselfAs for Butler, while the school is non-sectarian, it was founded in 1855 by the Disciples of Christ.
And I don’t get why you’re making a big deal out of this. You and the other administrators of this site have shut down similar disparaging remarks directed at TN, SC and other schools and their fans. I have absolutely no idea why you are supporting this nonsense.
Huh?One final point, we all know that Paige is deeply religious with a strong sense of social justice. There have been a very few occasions when individuals posted comments critical of her on that basis. The response by the BY was like Piranhas on a roast, to borrow Coach Schaefer’s remark
Have you missed the ten bijillion posts trashing ND, its players, its former coach, and occasionally the institution itself? What about the vitriol directed at Tennessee, Syracuse, or LSU? Not a peep out of you. But one bit of trash talk about the ND and BC fans and you get on your high horseWhy would we ever tolerate someone mocking the faith of someone else, just because they are not UConn fans.
It was about THE FANS not the schoolsFinally, just to be clear, UConn is the only purely secular university in the Big East. If anyone doesn’t have the right to criticize ND & BC based on their religion, It’s UConn fans.
You folks set the rules around here. I just ask for consistency in applying those rules. The first thread on this forum, from you, lists “Boneyard Rules”. The 2nd rule is “No name-calling or personal attacks.”And I don’t get why you’re making a big deal out of this.

I’m done
Take a break sir. Your perspective is way off. Honestly. You’re way overreacting. You folks set the rules around here. I just ask for consistency in applying those rules. The first thread on this forum, from you, lists “Boneyard Rules”. The 2nd rule is “No name-calling or personal attacks.”
Please tell me when it became acceptable to call fans from other schools “jerks and cretins” for no reason other than their affiliation with 2 prestigious Catholic universities? The hypocrisy of some folks is stunning.
Thank goodness Tenn isn’t a religious institution because I fully support calling their fans cretins. Please tell me when it became acceptable to call fans from other schools “jerks and cretins” for no reason other than their affiliation with 2 prestigious Catholic universities? Yeah theres nothing to intimidate an opponent like an old frail guy who doesn’t believe in violenceHow long will it take for Villanova teams to be renamed the “popes”?
Growing up near Chicago as a White Sox fan it is likely he partook in some trash talk with his Cubs friends. Although many Sox fans acted like there was only one major league baseball team in Chicago.Read his post again. @KryHavok was talking about BC’s and ND’s fans, not their ordained instructors and administrators. He said nothing offensive about the pope who sounds like a pretty down to earth everyman, like Pope Francis. I doubt he’d be offended by some rivalry trash talk
Where was this lecturing and condemning when women’s board fans were sneering at ND, Providence, Georgetown, St John’s, Xavier and other Catholic schools?
Is this why the Providence Friars can't beat anyone good anymore? ;-) I'll see myself out. ^_^Yeah theres nothing to intimidate an opponent like an old frail guy who doesn’t believe in violence
My younger brother went to BC-I went to a family wedding yesterday. The bride and groom went to BC, his family are BC loyalists, her family mostly went to Notre Dame. The (mostly) friendly trash talk at the wedding was something to behold - the football fanbases really don’t like each other much
I do have to share that both groups admired the Huskies’ run through the tournament this year and offered congratulations - even the ND fans. I made sure to bring my 2025 national championship tshirt to wear this weekend, just to tweak the cousins![]()
