No disrespect to VCU, but UConn should not be losing players to them.

Agreed but Shaka is "hot" to kids I'm sure and he was on him earlier and more often........guessing if they both were watching him around the same amount of time things may be different, maybe not, but just assuming.........

UConn used to make a living off of stealing kids late.

Puzzling. Could it be because Ollie couldn't guaranteed PT over say, Robinson? maybe coach keeps it real with the recruits. Or larrier must have loved Smart.

Sometimes you can swoop in late and steal a kid, and sometimes they stay loyal to the program that's been at the top of their list all along.

It isn't a perfect parallel, but think of it as similar to when we got Rashad Anderson out of Florida. UF jumped in late and in theory should have had a big advantage as the home state school (they had also just reached the NC game and lost to Michigan State), but Rashad thankfully stayed with us.

I just feel Ollie needs to just continue to build his coaching resume. Its his second year, this stuff is not unusual. With DHam and Purvis as his foundation his future recruiting will be successful. Its just difficult for him right now.

Isn't Larrier a NYC kid? If we were still the Big East Huskies with a lot of regional games close to home, not to mention at least one trip to MSG, this kid would have been ours to lose.

Seems the wide net that KO cast has a lot of holes. In the end, I think he'll real in a nice class. It just won't be the dream one that most had hoped for.

He saw this kid for the first time in late July.

I. Whitehead to St. John's tomorrow....more likely than not.

That makes sense. He wanted playing time. And the available spots were closing in on him, even for a kid of his caliber.

On the other hand, he does have an Indiana offer.

This is the first big get by the new Big East. First bonafide stud in the pen.

It is interesting because 'The Ultimate Gunner" SG D'Lo Harrison will be a senior next year. "Ziggy" Pointer (2,3) & Greene (combo) also seniors.

I like the fact Whitehead may be staying local and taking on the challenge of PT on a senior laden team (with other highly recruited players who will be seniors).

Looks like he visited IU a few weeks ago. Unofficial to the Johnnies today.

that would be surprising if he went to St Johns, they weren't mentioned at all during the summer and just recently reached out to him. Everybody thought it would be either Minn or IU just a few weeks ago.

I agree on the above because on paper there are a few things that could scare him about a St. John's commit. It looks like St. John's may close the deal today though.
