That's not true. UConn won at UVA by 41 in 1993. URI lost by 30 last night

I'm just citing something scrolled on ESPN last night

And in 93/94, we were a national title contender (Glory Days)

I'm not sure what their stat said but at the time UVA was ranked and UConn wasn't.

Maybe URI had the biggest margin of defeat by a ranked team to one with a losing record

Maybe it said "second worse", I was in bed and not wearing my contacts :)

Anyhow, it's not really important to me, I'm just playing the game

Shoot - you made me waste 5 minutes and open the box score. Local kid to me (Lancaster County, PA), Taylor Funk, plays for St Joe's. He was a lightly recruited 3-Star 6'8" forward despite leading his team deep into the States every year. Thought he's be a great fit for UConn because he does what our guys can't...flat out shoot the rock. 5-5 from the field (3-3 from three) and 4-4 from the line. Freshman. Could've been the one you kick it to during the drive and dish a la Rashad Anderson...more often than not, he knocks it down.

Great thread
But we care about URIne because...?

Sorry I had to go there
I was hoping to make it to the end of this thread and reply myself, but you ruined my hopes. Well played!

UVA was ranked 12th. And, like Hurley, the UVA coach took responsibility:

"I want to apologize to everybody who was here tonight for having to sit through something like that," Virginia Coach Jeff Jones said.

And JC's response was classic:

Connecticut Coach Jim Calhoun, recalling a 90-57 loss to St. John's in 1992, said: "I've been there. We took a 16-1 team into Madison Square Garden and lost by 33 points, so I sympathize with Jeff. But I must say that during the game, I wasn't feeling any sympathy."

Oy. Just end this season so these dumb posts stop.
A head coach taking ownership is the difference between good programs and mediocre programs. If that’s “dumb” then I question your knowledge of how a winning program operates.

I think a lot more goes into that.

Of course. But people were comparing it to our bad loses, and my point was Hurley taking ownership is the difference. After one of our embarrassing losses Ollie called out the fans for crying out loud. Big difference

This season would have been easier to stomach if KO took to Twitter apologizing for all the blowouts. Sorry Huskies!

No it would’ve been much easier to stomach if he didn’t blame everybody else
