When the Squid has to coach his way to Ws he loses. That has been his most consistent trait outside of being a slime ball.

Watching Kentucky and Calipari be humiliated, especially the self inflicted variety, just warms my heart. It's like kittens and puppies and a pretty girl in a sundress running through wildlfowers in the spring.

Nice childish rendition of Forde reactions. Some folks really hate Louisville. I think the reason "why" is not in Pitino's s e xual appetite, nor the slam on the best AD in the nation I read here. I think it's because they compete and do so in uncomfortable ways.

Pretty soon, if we get lucky, a basketball conversation could break out.

There is another pointed barb here ... for our Louisville friend: I think (and maybe many agree) that Louisville writers - Bozich, Forde, Brown and now Greer - has failed to respect the UConn legacy & our development as a Power. They look down on us. They ascribe this to something dirty or unethical about Calhoun. I resent this strongly. Calhoun wasn't unethical; he won like many of these other guys in this era - he kept right on the line with AAU games and relationships and urban strong sells. He didn't forward Cash. Nochimsen was not an example of a Program run amuck; rather, one stupid wannabe. Calhoun won because he willed his Teams through March - repeatedly. If these Louisville writers knew our story and basketball ... they would show us that respect. We were March tough ... and Ollie will get there too.

That was some great stuff and a terrific smackdown. Liked lots of the lines, but this one stood out...

And you blamed forward Julius Randle for wearing down by not taking himself out of the lineup. "I'm trying to get guys to sub themselves," you said. "They just don't get it." For $5.2 million a year, you'd think the coach could add "manage the substitution rotation" to his list of responsibilities, as opposed to leaving it up to the players. Who are young.

Fair question. The coach is actually blaming the players for not subbing themselves out? Brilliant (note that was sarcasm...). Another great question for Cal...

Jim Boeheim made an idiot of himself in a loss at Duke the week before, but he showed up at the postgame press conference to answer for it. Cincinnati's Mick Cronin made an idiot of himself on the sidelines Saturday in a loss to Connecticut, but he took questions afterward. If they can do it, why not you?

Fair question. He didn't want to answer it because the truth would go something like this... "Because I'm a prima donna and don't really think the rules apply to me. Hell, I've gotten away with more shady crap in college hoops than all other HC's combined, and yet people still line up to wipe my . Of course, it helps that Kentucky throws money all over the place and never gets called out on it. You want the truth? There it is!"

Can the 40-0 T-shirts people have been using to wax their cars be forwarded to the good people of Wichita? Just in case?

That one was just classic. I don't think anyone really believes Witchita State will win the NCAA's this year, but man what a great story that would be if they did...

Calipari's system is so flawed. You can't have a team full of superstars that see college as an NBA audition. He's lost control of his team. Again.

What I don't understand is why you expect everyone on here to overlook the "uncomfortable" ways Pitino, Petrino, and Jurich go about their business. They aren't winning anything for UConn so what do we care? Seriously, everytime there is a joke about Pitino you get your panties all bunched up.

I guess Forde is off topic too now.

Well, it's going to take a few more years before we can definitively say this.

Year 1: 1 seed, E8
Year 2: 4 seed, FF
Year 3: 1 seed, NC
Year 4: NIT Round 1

This year, they'll be in the tournament. They may even win a game. Not great. But if you offered me a 5 year window of success that had an NC, 2 , 3 E8s, 4NCAAs, and one bubble NIT year? I'd take that. Not the way Cal did it, but the system needs to stay down a few more years before we can say that it doesn't work.
