OT: Oh Canada (yep another music thread)

Heres a great song for those of you who have not yet heard it before....

Riverboat Fantasy by Canadian singer David Wilcox

Funny song by a Canadian band about a certain region of Canada. Apparently this is a cover tune but I've heard this version not the original.

Rush ~ “YYZ”
Kim Mitchell ~ “Go for a Soda”
April Wine ~ “I Like to Rock”
Lover boy ~ “Jump”
Silver Condor ~ “Took my Heart Away”

Together- Eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Doug- Eight comic books,

All- Seven packs of smokes, six packs of two-four,

BG Singers- Five golden touques!
Four pounds of backbacon,
three French toast,
two turtlenecks,

All- And a beer,

Doug- On my tree!

Bob- Yeah. That beer's empty. Okay. Day,

Try to get this one out of your head! Playfully dubbed “the provincial rock anthem of Manitoba,” TCB (as it’s affectionately known) is a timeless classic, perfect for that long road trip or commute to work. The origin story goes that Randy Bachman was driving to a gig in Vancouver when he heard a radio DJ say “We’re takin’ care of business!” … and the rest is history.

Another "I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet"....(maybe it's really uncool to admit you like her at this point but she was massively popular in the 90s and early 2000s)

edited--I don't think I really noticed it at the time, but I do now. I remember hearing that her producer and husband at the time, Robert "Mutt" Lange, allegedly pretty much ripped off some of his previous work w/ Def Leppard. This does sound strangely like a countrified version of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" w/ different lyrics.

One of my favorite pop-rock songs from the formative years of my life.

A more recent Canadian Band

Lady In the Water - Alert the Medic

How about we all just get along ...From the same group...:D

This band is one of the few worth seeing live without the original members. Simply masters of the original sound including lead vocals. This along with newer tunes that are very good.

Ashley MacIsaac from Cape Breton Island:
Another Canadian band/fiddler, playing a song about a Canadian fiddler.

The Death of Johnny Mooring - Enter The Haggis

Song written by Canada's poet laureate Leonard Cohen and performed by Canadian K.D.Lang at the Calgary Olympics.

"Un Canadien Errant" by John and Mary of the "10,000 Maniacs" from their 1991 side project "Victory Gardens" disc.

Also, let's not forget the music and the prolific song writing of Ian Tyson and Silvia Fricker.

This thread has been eye opening. Several of these bands/musicians I had no idea were Canadian. Kudos to the OP!

This is another "doh!" for me, I'm a fan of this band and knew they were Canadian and totally spaced out on it for this thread. I thought they were defunct but apparently not, they are out on tour this summer.
