OT: Oh Canada (yep another music thread)

Now on to my one-time occasional flute teacher:

Toronto based band I believe. They have a few songs that are fairly well known, I'm going w/ with something else. Saw them (finally) last year.

2/3 of the vocalists from the Wailin' Jennys are Canadian, they have a token American too.

Here's an 80's band called Touchstone with a Nova Scotia waltz:

Fun live band from Vancouver, BC, used to see them all the time back in the day. It's been years though. Apparently their lineup has completely changed several times over, except for the lead singer.

.-.
Some good electronica or EDM or whatever from Canada. I think Grimes marches to the beat of her own drum, she's a bit of an odd duck. Her early stuff was really out there but she's gotten closer to mainstream, while still maintaining some uniqueness.

I like pretty much everything off their last album, hard to pick which one to use.

And now for something completely different. My musical tastes keep jumping around the last several years. My latest kick has been goth/symphonic metal. The vast majority of the bands are European, but this one is from Canada. A bright cheery name for the group...

I was gonna say, "I thought Looking Glass was a US band," but I listened to the song and concluded it couldn't possibly be the Jersey band that did "Brandy."

And kudos to your eclectic taste. I'm not crazy about a lot of songs you post, but I love how varied it is.

Looking Glass is the song title, The Birthday Massacre is the band.

As for the second part, vive la difference!

Oops! I had it backwards; and ditto.

I keep thinking of more. There are Canadians everywhere. Some fine fiddlin' from Cape Breton Island.

There are just a ton of musicians or bands I never would've discovered w/out Pandora. Somehow I found music before I started using it but it's so much easier now. A couple songs I really like I found that way.

Heres a great song for those of you who have not yet heard it before....

Riverboat Fantasy by Canadian singer David Wilcox

Funny song by a Canadian band about a certain region of Canada. Apparently this is a cover tune but I've heard this version not the original.

Rush ~ “YYZ”
Kim Mitchell ~ “Go for a Soda”
April Wine ~ “I Like to Rock”
Lover boy ~ “Jump”
Silver Condor ~ “Took my Heart Away”

Together- Eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Doug- Eight comic books,

All- Seven packs of smokes, six packs of two-four,

BG Singers- Five golden touques!
Four pounds of backbacon,
three French toast,
two turtlenecks,

All- And a beer,

Doug- On my tree!

Bob- Yeah. That beer's empty. Okay. Day,

Try to get this one out of your head! Playfully dubbed “the provincial rock anthem of Manitoba,” TCB (as it’s affectionately known) is a timeless classic, perfect for that long road trip or commute to work. The origin story goes that Randy Bachman was driving to a gig in Vancouver when he heard a radio DJ say “We’re takin’ care of business!” … and the rest is history.
