OT: Notre Dame declines bowl bid

My two cents:

Glad ND was jilted. Don’t want to watch them anyway.

The ACC owes allegiance to ND in FB is ridiculous.

I will gladly watch JMU and Tulane play. It is refreshing and I would love to see an upset. Isn’t that why we love 1-16, 2-15 and 5-12 BB matchups?

ND should join a conference, but auto bid for a top 12 will prevent that. What an easy path for them. If true, then I do not see why everyone thinks Alabama doesn’t deserve in. Alabama actually played a tough schedule. They deserved their rating despite three losses.

The BE doesn’t need ND, but I am sure they would accept them if ND feels that strongly about the ACC backstabbing them.
 
The ND hate is ridiculous. Stop and look at it rationally. ND team at present is far better than Bama or Miami. Ranked ahead of Miami at the time these jokers were deliberating, and they also decided they needed 5 SEC teams in the 12. Really? It’s political, money, blah blah blah, join a conference fully, blah. ND, Canes in, Bama out.

Based on what? Has something changed that would allow ND to handle them on both lines of scrimmage? Maybe Love could manage more than 30 yards rushing if they met again. Maybe. Not that it matters though, because ND is out.

Have you watched these teams over the past few weeks?
ND would be favored by 4+ over both. They lost early to the Canes and A&M (close) and then ran roughshod over their schedule. You can argue for Miami, but not a 3 loss Alabama that is limping into the playoffs.

ND hate should be greater than it is. Miami beat ND in head to head. Miami beat ND. Miami beat ND. End of discussion. ND needs to be brought down to it knees and made to join a conference like everyone else.

They lost to Miami head to head. To me that is all I need to know. Alabama shouldn’t be there either, but they always seem to get a little extra help.

The funny thing that comes to my mind reading all these bickering posts is that for all of the gyrations of top-level college football through the BCS and various iterations of the CFP we're only marginally better off (at best) than we were 30 years ago with the straight-up AP/Coaches Poll determining the national championship.

ND AD blasts ACC commish for “pushing” Miami for the playoff spot claiming ND is a valued member of the ACC in 24 sports. Yet ND stood to gain $4m if they made the playoffs and because they are not a football member of the ACC they would not have to share any of it with them. They always want it both ways just like when they wouldn’t honor the home and home with us because they wanted to play the UConn home game in either The Meadowlands or in Gillette. I say, screw them whether they rightfully belonged in the playoffs or not.

Point taken. August 31st., but still, point taken. Also Duke won the ACC, of which Miami is a member, Miami Did Not. Why not Duke?

Are you really asking why Duke isn't in the playoff? Also, the games count, regardless of when they were played. Nice effort by ND to keep it close, maybe they will do better next time.

ND is free to pursue their dream of being offered membership in the Sun Belt Conference. I'm sure they'll receive consideration. But it's gotta be for all sports, no exceptions.
Meanwhile UConn will be happy to accept full time membership in the ACC (for all sports, no exceptions).
Yeah, Sun Belt would be a decent fit for ND.

I had some sympathy for them, but they are clearly a delusional group from the top down. They truly have convinced themselves that they have some generational team, playing at some historic level of football. Pathetic.
