OT: New iPad

Which app do you use to get score updates? Anyone? I'd like an app that has scores for all sports, college and pro, one that's updated frequently so you can get games in progress, etc.

Nan, I like CBS Sports for covering most sports in great detail (scores, stats, schedules etc.), but it doesn't include women's NCAA basketball (at least as far as I can tell). I wrote to CBS and complained about that. ESPN ScoreCenter is another good one, as is NCAA Sports. I also have TeamStream from Bleacher Report, NHL Game Center, NBA Center Court, and MLB.com At Bat. Most are free but require a minimal payment for additional details. I pay a fee to MLB At Bat for the chance to listen to MLB radio broadcasts. The NHL app requires a small payment for video highlights which I don't need. All are available, I believe, from the Apple iTunes App store.

I like Yahoo's Sportacular app for the iPad and the iPhone.

It's just the cleanest and easiest to navigate between sports - I find ESPN a pain in the ass.

One caveat - although they had it listed and it works in season, I found that the Yahoo app seemed to have dropped coverage of the women's NCAA scores some nights.

vi? Nothing that new. Using some code Dennis Ritchie gave me in 1969 at Bell Labs. The good old days when VPs wore Mickey Mouse T shirts and cut off jeans to work.

Yes and no. Kindle has apps on all the apple and android products but you can't read nook books on a kindle or vise versa. So I read kindle books on both my Kindle and iPad(my droid is a little too small to read well, but I do have the Kindle app on my droid.)

If you have a "amazon" account your kindle books cross platforms - you just need the Kindle App for each platform. If you want to "borrow" you can sign into another person's account and download the books or I think there is a new feature to borrow a book for a couple of weeks from someone else's account. We just register/deregister our Kindles to download each others ebooks.

yes. I share with missus, my kids, a nephew and a few close friends. It is your amazon password so it does open you to potential abuse! Make sur you know trust the person.

Kindle allows you to borrow some books from amazon for free also if you have an amazon prime account (for example the Hunger Games has been free since the fall and there are a lot of other books you can borrow). Also some libraries belong to Freading app or overdrive (I haven't used those but might in the future - why pay if you can borrow from the library.)

You can definitely change it, but I found I don't think about it very often, so I'd do it sooner rather than wait.

Amazon has a library called Kindle Prime that you can access for a yearly fee of $89. My son and I go through 3 or 4 books a week altogether so for us it would be a great deal - as long as our books are in the library.

I am actually surprised how much I love my iPad... and I only *have* the iPad2. I always maintained that I have a laptop that I use with me... why would I need an iPad? Well, it turns out I use my iPad in more ways that I would have imagined.

I also like having a Kindle (regular one, not a Fire) for my reading because I don't like the backlit screen when I read. Plus, Kindles are so cheap now, you can really have both.

For all sports scores updates, I use SportsTap. But I also navigate to ESPN Women's Basketball on Safari and then click the arrow button to Save to Home Screen. I put those two apps (along with the Boneyard, of course) into a folder on my iPad and iPhone and name it Sports. I also save the current UConn Roster and Schedule that way, so I can check heights of players --and dates and stuff.

I know I'm jumping in a bit late on this question (I was on vacation for 2 weeks and just got back) but I LOVE Sports Tap. I have been using it for a few years. It is a free app. I love it especially for MLB. You can click on the game and actually follow the game in just about realtime. If i'm not home, it is great to use. It has NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAA and CFL Football, NCAA mens and womens Basketball, Auto, Futbol, Golf, Tennis and Local Tap which is other local sports. It doesn't have the WNBA which is the only thing that disappoints me but I go to the WNBA website for those scores.
Each different sport has lots of information; standings, highlights and some stories as well. Again, my favorite app and now the only sports app I have on my mobile devices and tablet.

The Prime membership also includes free shipping on most amazon purchases or $3.99 overnight, and I've been getting a lot of products from amazon now, so I view the Kindle lending library as a FREE resource!!
