Alright I will get hammered and of course we all know I could care less. But if you just watched that magical run through March Madness for our Huskies and now are watching the NBA playoffs thinking "this is just so fun to watch" then I believe you're whacked.

Obviously not a huge NBA fan whatsoever, we all know that. But watching some of the games for ha ha's and nothing else on I find it to be so much of a joke. For instance last night…….Does Dwight Howard ever NOT foul anyone? I mean he's backing his guy in moving him 3 feet at a time , no call and when he goes to dunk he wants a foul - just plain awful basketball. Then next time down he's pissed and doesn't have position on anyone to rebound so he actually throws a guy out of the way in front of the ref and nothing……..

Harden just puts his head down and the whistle blows…..I mean phantom calls everywhere…….(never mind the Heat and Lebron:eek:) and the fact that any close game takes 35 minutes for the last minute as each team has 20 TO's and 12 reviews……lol

Anyway I miss college hoops already so much and can't wait until October 15th……..until then even though watching baseball can be as good as paint drying, it's better than this crap! Have fun……...;)

Just since Thursday there's been 3-4 foul calls on 3 point shots (coincidentally the trailing team always being the recipient) in the final 30 or so seconds of these games. At this point I can barely tell the difference between the NBA and WWE, at least the latter is honest about it.

I tried to watch the match-up between the Bobcats & the Heat. I really, really tried. A great opportunity, I thought, to watch 2 of my favorite UCONN alums on the court at the same time. Couldn't do it. It was the LeBron show from the opening tip. You almost got the feeling that there weren't 9 other people on the court. I ended up changing the channel in disgust. AARRGGHH!

There's always something special about the single-elimination NCAA Tournament, but come on. The NBA Playoffs is basketball on the highest level. And this postseason has been extremely exciting so far, and we're only 3-4 games into the first round. As the rounds go on, the match-ups and story-lines will only get better. As a basketball fan, how could you not love that?

This was shown in a telecast yesterday as well:

Other than maybe Heat-Bobcats, each series has been highly entertaining.

I also find it unwatchable. Tried watching Kemba the other night but lasted only a quarter. College hoops blows it away IMO.

I really, really, hate posts like this.

You picked the only un-entertaining series in the first round (a totally overmatched Charlotte team playing the defending champs with one of their two best players playing on one foot) and you're going to say college basketball "blows it away" while ignoring all the other series currently going on where the level of play is through the roof and the margin between the teams is razor thin. You're not qualified to say which is better if that's all you've done, honestly.

If you don't like watching the most skilled basketball players in the world competing on the games biggest stage, that's fine. Nobody's forcing you to watch. I'm sure you can watch something like Animal Planet on the History channel instead.

The NBA promotes a different brand of basketball than the highest level of college. I have not watched one second of the NBA playoffs. Without the Celtics, none of the teams interest me (maybe OKC) too much. The Stanley Cup playoffs, on the other hand, are unbelievably entertaining.

Mauconn I think many non-UConn fans would disagree with you. Plus its easier to have an affinity or a 'vested' interest in a college team than a professional team. As for talent, there's no comparison.

I myself just am not an NBA fan like I used to be. I think its because of the amount of money paid and made that I still can't fathom. Plus being old-school I used to like the 14 or so teams which allowed for as many as 3 superstars per team. The expansion(s) changed all that and so went my interest.

They can disagree with me all they want and while I dislike the heck out of it I respect that BigErn and others like it I do…….I just can't imagine why. It may be the best players on earth performing on the biggest stage but it's not the most entertaining basketball unless you also were a Sargent Slaughter fan because they way it's refereed is closer to the women's game than the mens in college……laughable at times.

But hey we all like to watch something…….sunny someone said watch the History Channel or something then - I DO!! LOL

What in the hell did you think it would be? You've got the two time champion, best player in the world...of course it is going to be his show, unless someone does something to steal the spotlight. Unfortunately, the only one who has done that so far is Sterling.

Why should it be his show if the other team is playing him hard and deserves some calls? That's the NBA, it has to be someone's show and that's dictated by the almighty $$$$ just like pro wrestling….they're close!

Watch Golden State vs Clippers or Houston vs Portland, my regret is there is too much good basketball to watch. I prefer college but the NBA players & quality of games are vastly superior.

I find watching the NBA to be almost unbearable. The game is just a bunch of super stars running around with zero defense being played. Plus, you dont get the electric atmosphere like you do in a college game due to the students. It's just boring. And what the hell is up with them playing music over the pa DURING the damn game???

There is a lot of defense being played (unless your name is James Harden). This is just factually inaccurate--especially in the playoffs. The defense got so good in the early-2000s that the league had to change rules...and then Tom Thibodeau developed defensive strategies to work even in an era when no hand-checking is allowed.

NBA offenses are so good that they still make baskets look relatively easy at times, but I think the problem is that defensive schemes in the NBA are so sophisticated that sometimes it's hard to recognize what's going on.

What's the "different brand" of basketball? More talented? Higher level?

And I'm laughing at whoever said the atmosphere is not the same because there's no student section. Have you been watching these games?

There are probably 4 or 5 plays each game that I have to rewind, not because they're so spectacular, but because I can't get over how freaking good the players are.

I heard many people talking about how great these things called movies are, so I watched Gigli. I ended up changing the channel in disgust. Movies are terrible.

Theres a lot more isolation in the NBA, where as the college game has more motion, in my opinion. Whether it's to disguise the lesser talent or not is immaterial. It is more fluid, which is more entertaining to me.

I'm sure I'll catch a few minutes at some point, but it's certainly not appointment tv.

You took the words right out of my mouth Tzz. Aside from Harden, (and Hansbrough. Wow, he has the lateral quickness of Shawn Bradley) the quality of defense is outrageous. I'm very much enjoying these playoffs.

I know everyone here is bias to college and UConn, but to suggest the NBA playoff aren't compelling and a high level of bball is lunacy. These games have been great for the most part and this is the 1st round. Other than heat-Bobcats, most series are close and close games. And 5k people in Toronto watching a 1st round game on TV, good stuff.

Vinsanity on Sat in Dallas is as exciting as anything in college bball this past season.
