Well isn't that why the NCAA paid his attorney to get other people under oath? And didn't Shapiro's attorney get other people under oath? And hasn't Miami only skated because of process and not substance? And isn't that program kind of the faunt of all sports evil, between the whole paying players and giving out banned substances thing? What am I missing here? Please, help me...what am I missing here?
You're missing evidence. If it exists, then it should come out and there should be punishment. What if there isn't any? Why are some people quick to believe everything in that story, but not quick to believe the part where Shapiro himslef says he didn't pay guys because "he couldn't afford to compete with the SEC"? In my opinion, this "investigation" shouldn't have taken this long if they had real, tangible evidence and it certainly shouldn't have required the NCAA going to the lengths that it has gone to in an effort to come up with something. And they haven't skated at all, they have sat out two bowl games, suffered recruiting wise and had to put up with being in limbo for two years now. I'm sorry (well, really I'm not) but no program should have to suffer through this sort of ridiculous investigation on the say so of a convicted con man. The NCAA should either produce evidence and levy punishment or give it up and move on. Then they should get out of the "enforcement" business because they are clearly not cut out for it.
I get it, people here hold a special bitterness towards Miami, they think Miami was out to "get Connecticut" or some other nonsense because they had the foresight to dump this bum conference. And that's fine, but don't let it cloud your judgement in the absence of facts that haven't been presented yet. Let them come out, or not come out as the case may be before we call for the nuclear option.
That's jusy my 75 cents anyway.
