OT Luka

I thought I was having some stupid dream that I was back in middle school and then I realized I was just reading The Boneyard.

Don’t try to stop this little tug of war now I have popcorn finally.

2 real good posters just having a BY disagreement don’t ruin a good thing, the kids are home with their families we won’t have much to talk about until they return to campus. More of this is needed for 2 weeks shows how gritty and plucky the Yard can be!

Which ones are the good posters?

I would bet being around LeBrron's daily conditioning regiment impacted him. And rightfully so.

That is the nicest thing you've ever said to me. Lol

Michael Kay and David Cone were just chatting with a guest in their booth. The camera showed them and I thought, 'who is that? He's thin and fit.' Thought he was an injured Yankee. Nope. It was Luca.
They showed picture of him with Judge who looks a couple of inches taller. Both are Jordan brand players.

Only question left for the BY to uncover id Doncic using Ozempic, Zepbound or Munjaro.

Even though he was never out of shape, Lebron made a decision to lose some 15-20 pounds about 10 years back to reduce the overall stress on his body and get quicker. So it wouldn't surprise me if it he discussed that with Luka.

Listen to the Zach Lowe podcast!!!!

It did. Tells me absolutely nothing that isn't obvious.

He’s trying to be funny - it’s going as well as you’d expect.

Speaking of podcasts, Jacoby and Vernon were talking today about how interesting it was in the article that Luka mentions Jordan, Kobe, Kyrie ... never says a word about Lebron. I haven't read the Men's Health article yet, but I do find that curious as well.

I’m gonna shock you: you’re not Luka, so the definitions might be skewed a bit.

But I’d watch out, there’s a guy who posts 10,000x a day who will jump in and make some weird, unfunny joke about you being fat now because he made an asinine post about Luka not getting a max contract.

The day you take SuperToilet seriously is the day you've lost the high ground.

While Luka hasn't been in ideal playing shape for some time now, it's not that unusual for the weight/conditioning of an NBA star to fluctuate a bit. Look at Harden, Embiid, Draymond, D-Wade, etc. Even guys like CP3 and LeBron have looked a little heavy at times. Despite the extensive cardio that's involved, basketball players should not be confused for soccer, hockey, or tennis players when it comes to physical fitness. They're big people.

It was really only this season that it got so out of control with Luka that it became the central talking point. And that was due in no small part, I'm sure, to the league wanting to push a narrative that deflected from how shady the trade itself was. It has to be loving how much the public is eating this up (I'll see myself out).

I was talking about pooper scooper actually - super toilet just joined in on the party cuz he has zero original thoughts so he jumped in - but I deleted that post cuz I’m done with it
Are you suggesting I change my handle? I kind of like the suggestion.

You're about as thin skinned a poster as I've ever seen on this board. Maybe you're a female and this is impossible but try it anyway.

I don’t care about you. I just find you obnoxious. That doesn’t mean I care.

It's been an issue and talking point for years now with Luka. He comes into the season out of shape and works himself into shape to varying degrees. He's been called out on it so much over the years that he's publicly addressed how he needs to get in better shape and this season he's finally taking it seriously.

He's so unbelievably good that he's still one of the few best players in the world when he's out of shape. Now that he's taking things seriously you'll hear even more talk about MVP and the Lakers being serious championship contenders.

Yes, it's been a talking point for years, but not to the level it was last season. And the reason I make the distinction is because I think it's caused some people to overstate the problem. It isn't like we're talking about Zion here. He's consistently averaged over 40 MPG in the playoffs and posted some historic usage rates in the process. I didn't even think his defense was that bad in 2024 until the finals.

Between regular season and playoffs, he logged close to 9,000 minutes from '22-'24 and then went and played FIBA and Olympic Qualifiers in the summer. When you're playing that much basketball it can actually cut into your off-season program and/or create the impression that you're in better shape than you are. That's why I think the early exit and increased scrutiny this season might've been a blessing in disguise. He was on the 1970s off-season plan while his peers were coming back bigger and better.
