What are your thoughts on this game? Who wins? AAC conference implications are strong. Cinci has 1 league loss. Cinci plays Ville this afternoon. That is followed by @ UConn and Memphis. Arguably they could lose all three giving them 4 loses in conference. At Rutgers is no gimmie either although they should take that 1. If UConn runs the table (they will be favored in all except Ville) we could still be looking at a shot to share the AAC regular season title. Ville still has to travel to Memphis and SMU.

So I am rooting for Ville this afternoon. It keeps our chances for a back door share of the regular season title alive. Have a good 1 my UConn brothers and sisters!

A Cincy win means a top 5 team comes into Hartford next week, but I would like Louisville to knock them off. So I guess either way I will end up happy.

Still could be top 10 even if they lose to Ville. It will be a good game.

Hey man. Good to see you posting. Was just about to ask if anyone knew where you've been.

I want Cinci. I know UConn still has an outside chance to win the regular season title. And I know that Cinci is UConn's biggest rival from the AAC for any future conference expansion. But I'm also weighing what the significance is if several AAC teams having a more successful season than Ville. It means at the very least a downgrade of the ESPN and ACC hype machine regarding that conference's future and a significant upgrade in the AAC's potential. I'll take that because I believe that with UConn's development academically and with KO, Geno and Diaco as coaches, UConn is the most significant candidate in any future realignment outside of BYU and ND.

I'm hoping UConn makes it's statement in the tournaments. And I'm hoping Ville loses as many games as possible.

Here's hoping you get disappointed in your last sentence, Fluedslipcon. ;-)

I also hope UConn does well in the tourneys, for the record.

Same with the Cards minus a meeting with us……..and all the way through the dance!

Next year's wishes may change after you follow Boeheims footsteps to play in the AAC…….if Pitino dares to say he's never seen such a tough stretch of games he can join Jimmy B in our most hated with Cal…..lol

Unlike some of those on CR forum, I hold nothing personally against Louisville. It's purely strategic for me with regards to Ville. I reserve my disdain for Pitt, BCU and ND regarding the break up of the BE and CR impacting UConn negatively. My disdain for Cuse is less rational. WV and Ville were not directly involved in the BE's destruction and UConn would have jumped ship if given the chance.

I still think ESPN and the ACC made a tactical mistake by taking Ville over UConn because I think in the long run Uconn would bring more stability to the ACC than Ville. Ville would have been better served joining WV in the Big 12. There were, and are, compelling advantages for the ACC to take Ville but they are short term and myopic imo. The Big 12 should have made the play for Cinci and Ville along with WV but Texas has the ND conceit and is content with it's overwhelming superiority in revenues generated with athletics to think about the long term picture.

Once you're in the ACC, I want you to trounce Cuse, Pitt, Duke, Miami and BCU. This year, I'm rooting against you most of the way.:)

LOL, message received and you make some interesting points. The Big 12 had our attention and our interest, this is for sure. I also think it would have been every bit as natural a fit as the ACC, the truth is. But the Baby Huey presence of Texas now makes the ACC looks just that much better. They crap on everything. Bear in mind, we have some fairly seriously Southern roots, even while being fundamentally urban, liberal and slightly MidWestern, so the "fit" in the ACC is at least semi-natural. Avoiding WVU is frankly always a good thing too - we feel about them much the same as you feel about Syracuse. We have one U of Kentucky already - we don't need 2.

Beating Louisville a second time for the Cats will be tough. I think it will be a great game and there is a good chance there will be a third meeting in Memphis in a couple of weeks.

Should be one hell of a game, kobe. As a UofL fan, we have been waiting for this stretch of the schedule all season long. This will tell us whether to pursue hope or not, lol.

The penetration by the Big12 into the central part of the nation would have put a serious dent into the B!G which is something I think Texas, in it's conceit is failing to take advantage. I agree that given this conceit, Ville is lucky not to be in that conference. Texas is a time bomb waiting to destroy the conference. But a rivalry of Cinci, WV and Ville would be a better situation for Ville in recruiting football wise than Pitt and Cuse. Basketball would be fine in either conference.

As a UC fan, we haven't had a home game this big (two top 10 teams) since we played Marquette when they had DWade back in 2002. Should be an amazing environment. Louisville's success on the road scares me...

Man, a true fact is that UofL fans could give a rat's ass about losing Memphis as a rival. But losing Cincy hurts. They were also such a good fit, along with the 2 schools you mentioned, for the Big 12. Texas blew that entire conference out of the water already with that craziness. Louisville also has this interesting relationship with Kansas State which is sort of mutually supportive and you know KU would have welcomed the hoops. Texas liked us so much, they stole our football coach! (For $5 Million, lol - we win signing BobbyP for free, lol)

Yep. That animosity towards WV you stated in another post is what is important for rivalries. Cuse had this with GT and UConn. That's gone. The romance with Duke and UNC will be short lived the same as it was for BCU. And BCU just doesn't understand anything about sports outside of the ice rink to know that a UConn BCU rivalry was the most reasonable rivalry for getting the northeast excited about college football.

Cincinnati had some good football games with WVU in the past few years and with basketball you have the "Huggins vs his former team" angle.

A combination of Cincinnati, Louisville and West Virginia would have really helped the Big 12 get more national coverage over on this side of the country. Those three are much more valuable as group then each is individually.

Totally, man. That's a pretty substantial geographical limb. Poor WVU is now stuck on an island, to make matters even worse. Honestly, the lack of foresight into those possibilities was mind-bogglingly stupid - there is no other way to view it. I hated it when it was coming down - it all seemed so dismally short-sighted.

I think that says something about our team and the boneyard.

Rough half for Sean Kilpatrick. When is the last time we've had a player put up ten three's in one half?

Go Louisville. As long as we're in the top 3, I don't care what seed we are for the tourney. And I would love to have a share of the regular season conference title, which we have no shot of getting if Cincinnati wins here.

If you don't want to watch an ugly basketball game, then watching UofL-UC isn't a good idea. Coaches and players know each other too well, and both teams pride themselves on defense.

It's a cave, lol. Clubs and spears at 5 feet. Playing in Cincy is always this way, I swear. It more resembles the emotions encountered when getting teeth pulled.
