OT: How about those Mets?

I've never hidden or been ashamed of my Mets fandom, but it certainly feels good to be playing meaningful baseball games in September for the first time in a long time.

The Yankees next win will be #10,000. Our kids, kids, kids, kids may not get to see the Mets get to 10,000 wins.

And our kids kids kids kids kids kids kids may not see the Rays get to 10,000 wins. What does that matter? Super, the Yankees have been around twice as long. Hell, the Cubs have more wins than the Yankees and they will be the 8th franchise to hit that milestone.

.-.
LETS GO METS! Its about time. I was a senior in High School last time they went to the Playoffs!

Hard to follow the Mets in CT. The Courant lists the Red Sox ahead of the Mets, in coverage, even though the Mets just clinched the division, and the Sockies are 15+ games behind.

Who did they trade to get Cespedes? Whomever it was - it was worth it, and what a great decision. Guy is doing a fantastic Manny/Dodgers impression.

Two minor league pitchers, Michael Fulmer and Luis Cessa. Fulmer in particular is a top prospect, but I agreed then--and obviously still do--that it was worth it, especially since we held on to Zach Wheeler.

Keep this on the baseball board huh? Who cares about the Mets it's UConn basketball time

Our kids kids kids kids won't see a Mets 220M payroll, either. Go and buy another championship, losers. :)

Yanks are 214 and will also make the playoffs. The Mets are at 100 and won't be able to keep their team together unless they get there in the next couple of years. I like our way of life! :)

Could be worst you could have a 170 payroll and be 15 games out.

I'm guessing you did watch the 2 of 3 they won vs the Mets a couple weekends ago ;)

I was at the Sunday night game where our bullpen got bombed. But hey, two years ago we won all four games against you guys and didn't make the playoffs, so I'd much rather the alternative!

The Mets have a problem that no one ever talks about. Defense. Sure they have great young starting pitching, but they makes lots of mistakes out there, not all called errors. But as a Yankee fan I will root Mets from the National League.

Their middle infielders leave a lot to be desired, but outside of that the rest of the team is pretty good. I'm definitely worried, though, about Flores misplaying a routine ground ball costing us, or Murphy making some boneheaded decision being the difference in a game.

.-.
Flores needs to stop the triple clutch before making a throw.

Flores looks like thevtin man swinging now. He is shot. Tejada at short v Dodgers

The Pirates hit 10,000 wins last week.

People have talked about the Mets defensive deficiencies all year. It's not a secret. Poor fielding and shaky bullpen depth are the only real flaws on the roster.

O'Flaherty is the worst pitcher we've had out of the pen since Mel Rojas.

The core of the team is locked in and most of them don't reach Free Agency until 2019-20 or later. IOW we're good.

And it's also UConn Hockey and Football time. That is if you actually support the university and not just 1 sports team.
