Nobody hates the guy! Why would they unless they are a Cleveland Cavilers fan. LOL. They just hate his spoiled attitude when he hasn't won anything. I mean MJ and KB might be spoiled but at least they respected the game before they actually started winning. I never saw MJ or KB not shake hands after a tough series or be he king of flops. Neither one would have a stupid spectacle like LBJ had going to Miami. He just needs to win a title before he can act like a spoiled kid. I guess the kid really never has grown up unfortunately. He doesn't strike me as the smartest person in the world compared to both MJ and KB. I liked LBG starting out but not I just think he has gotten too full of the damn hype. Win something before you act like a fool!

People don't hate him they just have lack of respect for him.

Eh, Lebron hasn't made the wisest public relations moves but let's not act Kobe hasn't made some extremely dumb moves off the court himself. Having unprotected sex with a hotel smut and nearly going to jail over it and losing millions in endorsements at the time, getting into a relationship with an underage video "model", being strongarmed into a marriage with said underage "model", dude's not exactly all that street smart with those blunders.

Re IQ, I'd have to say that KB and MJ both probably hover somewhere in the 80s, and together they probably couldn't pass a 7th grade comprehensive test.

Evidence? Read the original 50 page police interview with Kobe. Yep. He was stupid enough to 1. talk to cops for about 20 minutes after he was accused of rape, 2. Read it - the questions he asked showed he's an idiot (but, IMO, his testimony indicated he was telling the truth - e.g. he kept telling the police that he really didn't choke the girl, he had his hands around her neck as he was doing her doggy style, and you can ask so-and-so, because I cheat on my wife with her and we do that every time. No crap. He said that). Then read Michael Jordan's HS love letter to some babe.

Then, if you can stand to have your brain put through a strainer, listen to unprepared interviews with them. They literally seem to struggle mightily to put sentences together.

There's a reason that neither says much in commercials. Love both of them on the court and as decent people. I think Kobe is disliked because he's kept to himself. He's taken the opposite tack from LeBron. Smart, particularly given how much spot light has been on him.

I'd have to say, if there was a jeopardy contest dumbed down to a 5th grade level and the contestants were KB, MJ, and the King, I'd have to go with the king.

The LeBron hate is incredibly pitiful. This is a kid still in his mid-20's who has been showered with attention from people trying to take advantage of him since he's been 14. What do you know, a kid who has been granted the name, "The Chosen One" since his teenage years has made some dumb decisions and at times lost control of his ego. Shocking! I can't even begin to imagine how outrageously cocky some of you a** hats would be if you had the talent and skillset that LeBron had.

Look, LeBron has obviously made mistakes, but the fact that his haters still cling to those moments in his life like a dumped boyfriend is incredibly sad and pathetic. I read one poster on here mention the fact that LeBron has "never overcome an adversity". Are you kidding me?? This is a kid who never had a father and lived in something like six different houses during his teen years. Please, tell me who on here has a story that compares to that. Yeah, he's talented, rich, and famous. I'm sure he'd give it all back for a father, I know I would.

So let's review some of LeBron's egregious and unforviveagle sins highlighted in this thread.

--The Decision. Critics have a legitimate beef here, as he tossed the city that loved him like few other athletes in Cleveland history under the bus on National TV. In fairness to him, I think this was more a case of his PR staff pressuring into a decision like this to expand his brand. And let's be honest, for all you shmuks ripping the self-serving one hour promotion, tell me you didn't watch it, and think about it all day. You're lying.

--Not shaking hands with the Magic in 09. He should have shown more sportsmanship, but the kid was freakin 23 years old and coming off an incredibly grueling series in which he carried the Cavs on his back and got no help. He's lost in the playoffs the last two years, and he was incredibly gracious in defeat. How about the entire Celtics team (minus West and Ray) walking off the court after game five last year? The amount of attention they received for that lack of sportsmanship wasn't 1% what LeBron got. Let's see you Celtic homers on thsi board kill Pierce and KG for it, I bet you won't. Oh yeah, it's different when it's LeBron.

--Dancing on sidelines. Holy he danced on the sidelines! Hang him! No really, it showed a lack of class, but comeon, the fact that certain people are still bi*tching about it over three years later is sad. Crucify him for being excited during a big win.

--Heat welcome party. Clearly LeBron got a little carried away. But Jeez, the guy was just trying to pump up his new home crowd. It was clearly a heat of the moment thing that he had no idea was going to linger. The Heat literally did the same thing in 05 for Shaq and nobody cared. The double standard with LeBron haters is apalling.

The selective memory some of you guys have in regards to Kobe is comical. You're talking about a guy who publicly feuded with one of the best players of all-time, pi**ed his coach off to the point he briefly retired, threw his teammates under the bus on several occasions, quit on team in game seven of 06 Suns series, publicly demanded trade the following year (but Kobe would never take the easy way out!), and hogged the ball in ways never seen before.

Oh yeah, and did I mention he freakin sexually assaulted somebody! If LeBron rubs you the wrong way, fine. But the outright hate and disgust shown by some people is illogical and outrageously bitter in comparison to other star athletes. Ben Roethlisberger, Mike Vick, and Kobe are not ridiculed on nearly the same level, and they have in some cases, allegedly committed much worse acts of violence and cruelty than LeBron hurting the city of Cleveland's feelings because he didn't want Mo Williams to be his Pippen.

By the way, name me the worst off-court incident LeBron has been involved in since the decision. The man clearly has realized the errors in his ways, adjusted to criticism, and become more mature as a person. Get the *k over it and enjoy his brilliance as a basketball player.

Why do people hate LeBron? Because he does stuff like THIS (notice it's while the damn game is going on).

At least he's not afraid to make an ass out of himself.

Kobe's actually very intelligent. IQ wise he's above average. That report reads like a scared kid, not an idiot. (And was actually hilarious "She's a very attractive girl." "She's not that attractive.) The guy can speak four languages, he doesn't struggle with one.

He doesn't say much because he's terribly uncharismatic.

I don't think Lebron is dumb either. It's the other aspects of his personality that steer him towards dumb decisions. (As is with Kobe.)

I don't know about MJ.

This. Kobe and MJ are both very intelligent, arrogant, and brash. Kobe comes across as a real jerk. Not someone you would want to know. I don't think James is in their league as far as IQ but he's not stupid, he just needs to grow up.

Where the hell do you guys get this from? They're borderline morons. Get your head out of your ass.

Here's the opening paragraph from MJ's high school letter to a sweetheart (pretty damn funny it's to a "lakette"):

My Dearest Laquette
How are you and your family doing, fine I hope. I am in my Adv. Chemistry class writing you a letter, so that tell you how much I care for you. I decide to write you because I felt that I made you look pretty rotten after the last night. I want to tell you that I am sorry, and hope that you except my apologie. I know that you feelings was hurt whenever I loss my necklace or had it stolen.
That's a verbatim rendition. Guy's an idiot, don't kid yourselves. I'm not sure why, when a guy is famous, people want to make him out to be smart. He's a great ball player. Why does that make him smart? He's not smart. He's pretty damn unintelligent. That doesn't make him a better or worse person, it just means it's silly to conflate basketball legend with IQ.

Regarding Kobe - the 4 language thing gets thrown around a lot. I could give a crap less what languages he learned when he was in europe as a kid. Any kid living in a foreign country will pick up the language to some extent. Given that Kobe struggles to speak coherently in English, I'm guessing the "speaking" in the other 3 languages is probably equivalently challenged or worse.

Read this part of his police interview, in which the guy is singing like a canary, and tell me he's intelligent . . .

The fact that your pointing to a letter he wrote in high school to demean his IQ tells me more about your intelligence than it does his.

If you've listened to Kobe speak, you'd know he has no problem putting together a coherent thought in english. I think of him as one of the more intelligent players in the league. Again, you're pointing to a police interview to try to prove your point, a situation where he was likely under a great deal of pressure and unable to think clearly. There are very intelligent people who have trouble thinking under pressure.

You're probably right. I don't know these guys personally (OTOH, Jordan is a terrible team owner).

There is no denying the fact that MJ has been an absolutely horrendous GM/owner. When was the last time he drafted a good player, if ever? Time will tell whether the Kemba pick was a good one, but outside of that, there are a long line of busts from the MJ era in Charlotte. I guess if he gets the #1 pick this year, that's one even he can't mess up. Or maybe he can.

Frank,

Your reasoning behind Kobe's IQ level is absurd. You repeatedly harp on how he sounded while being interrogated by police. Any other examples for us? Have you listened to him give lengthy interviews? I have, as I live in the LA market and listen to radio interviews he does on the ESPN affiliate out here. He is significantly more well-spoken in relation to most of his professional counterparts. When he speaks of his charity (fighting homelessness in LA), he is eloquent and well-spoken. He comes across as drab in national interviews due to one thing. He has a very boring/reserved personality. Any yes, an ability to still speak 4 languages fluently 20 years since he has lived abroad is quite impressive and a sign of his intelligence.

As an aside, Kobe scored a 1080 on his SATs (far from Ivy League, but well above many athletes). Far from the imbecile you paint him to be.

And all this from a Celtics fan.

LeBron - 40/18/9 - pretty damn awesome. Wade 30/9/6 Really, really good. Unfortunately for the Heat, they needed that out of these two guys to win, and if these two don't have nasty, nasty games, you have to wonder how far the Heat can go. Particularly given that LBJ played 44 minutes.

Props to LeBron - guy was all friggin world when they needed him to be.

How many guys who ever played the game could put up 40/18/9 in a regulation game? Fewer than 5?

That was the single best individual performance in a playoff game that this league has seen in a few years. It didn't require a 25 footer to win the game though, so no one will ever remember. It was also good to see Miami finally respond to Indiana's bully tactics, especially Haslem who seemingly just needed a crack to the head to wake up and play.

At halftime, I thought the Heat were on their way to a perfectly humiliating series defeat.

The Heat threw out a STFU quarter there in the third, though - duck*, LeBron James can play this game and then some.

I also thought the Heat were done in this series when I saw the halftime score, so I tuned in and watched the whole second half. Incredibly impressive performances by Wade and James.

Although I don't think it was the difference maker, the officiating did seem to favor Miami heavily during the second half imo. Very physical at both ends, but calls all seemed to be going in favor of the Heat. Hansbrough's two travels and Battier's two flops helped also.

I haven't watched a lot of the playoffs yet this season, but it also seems like whoever wins the Eastern Conference is playing for runner up to San Antonio or Oklahoma; probably the former.

There is a reason Indiana is near the top of the league in fouls committed. They play physical. They push, they grab, they bump, it's just part of how they play.

Not a novel sentiment, but this might've been the best game of LeBron's career considering the context. When Granger provoked him yet again in the 1st half and LeBron only laughed capriciously, I was ready to call it a rap for year 9 of the LBJ era.

I don't know if they'll win the series, but good God. What a pleasure of a game to watch. Wade was fantastic, too, but needed everything LeBron gave him to get off.

To me, there is nothing better in the NBA than watching LeBron in the highest pressure situation, doing what he did today.

No one said he wasn't good, people hate because he a HUGE and an awful flopper.

There is a reason why no one likes him outside of Miami and Colin Cowherd.
