Why do people hate LeBron? Because he does stuff like THIS (notice it's while the damn game is going on).

lebron-dancing-2-o.gif

He's a mental midget, he's about as mentally weak of a superstar as I've ever seen in any sport. He gets frustrated so easily, when the going gets tough he starts screaming at teammates, stops playing as hard and just goes in the tank. He did it against Boston during his last season in Cleveland, against Dallas last year in the Finals. He did it in Game 4 against the Knicks this year.

And of course he has the ultimate attention-whore, "look at me!" attitude. Most stars have it to a certain degree but LeBron seems like he's more concerned with impressing people than winning games. Anyone who watched Bird, Magic, MJ, Kobe etc can tell pretty easily that this guy is basically a phony. But as someone else said, he's been a pampered baby his entire life so it's no surprise that he's the person he is. He's never had to overcome any adversity or really work that hard.

He pulls The Decision, fakes his apology for it and then has a gigantic championship-level celebration with Wade and Bosh before they ever even play a game together, talking about how they're going to win six titles. He's just a .

I didn't say people shouldn't hate Lebron you non reading a**clowns. I'm talking about people saying how much they hate Lebron while giving Wade a pass, while Wade is the one delivering forearm shivers to Rip, flagrant fouling Kobe Bryant in an All Star game and breaking his nose, ddt'ing Rondo and dislocating his elbow, Terry Tate'ing Collinson on a fastbreak just because he didn't get a call(deservedly so) on the other end, trying to punk his coach in a huddle...need I go on? Oh, and DWade was the one actually making fun of Dirk for being sick, Bron was just being the follower that he is and went along with it. But yea Lebron is evil and HGH Wade is just being corrupted and having his mind warped by Bron Luther.

To the guy who said he doesn't understand why people don't like LeBron, seriously man? I mean, the guy is a great basketball player, but he's just a long, uninterrupted chain of moves, and hardly a 2 month stretch goes by without him doing or saying something that just makes him seem douchy.

Two posters above listed things he did.

I'll add these: Guy wears a head band as an adornment. It's just stupid. Guy does this "look at me" stupid thing before games clapping dust in the air. Wow. Knock it off. Just play ball. Magic, Bird, Jordan - these guys didn't need headgear and schtick to get the job done. Guy had a college kid dunk on him at a summer camp type thing, and his Nike people, IIRC, go into the stands and start confiscating cameras. Just incredibly douchy.

I have sympathy for the guy because he's been famous since he was what? 14? 15? I can't imagine how that impacts your development as a human being.

Regarding Cleveland and "the decision," I have no issue with him getting out of Cleveland. Who would want to play there? But the whole made-for-TV drama was just stupid, and again, a big "look at me" grasp for attention.

We're all looking now LeBron. Time to step up.
Actually I think Jordan invented the talcum clap in the air as a way to needle the on-air announcers, otherwise I think the reasons for LeBron dislike are pretty clear although in the scheme of things its kind of like the Shaq dislike - guy was self-promotional but compared to serious crimes/transgression by athletes the hatred is out of whack.

Meanwhile I agree that Wade is behaving like a punk/bully and he gets a pass either cuz he has the 1 championship or his baby face and well spoken qualities. He's had at least half a dozen cheap hard fouls that I've seen in this year's playoffs and definitely injured Rondo in last years. That forechecking push foul on the breakaway that someone linked to ought to have been a flagrant 2 (it was game 2) as there was no play on the ball whatosever.

The hubris of the three of them counting their championships seems to grow. Rest of the league has to enjoy beating the 3 guys that presumed they would automatically beat every other player/team.

Lebron hatred is mainly one thing, jealousy. I don't necessarily like the guy, but the reasons people "hate" him are not reasons to hate somebody.

.-.
If LeBron played baseball, Steinbrenner would have had a name for him...Mr. May. Afraid to take a big shot at the end of big games. Can you imagine Jordan or Bird or Magic or Havlichek or any of the greats passing the ball with the game on the line?

Not true, I hate him for going to the Greenwich Boys and Girls Club, signing one basketball and taking off. I hate him for going to the Greenwich Boys and Girls Club, 20 minutes from the Knicks practice facility and saying he was going to Miami, a team that historically (next to the Pacers and the Bulls) is the biggest rivalry of the Knicks. I hate him for flopping and having the refs in his pocket. There are plenty of reasons to hate Lebron if you're a Knick fan. I hope they never win another game this post season. Go Pacers!! And for a Knick fan to say go Pacers you know how much I hate the Heat.

You remind me of many of my clients. It's this sort of demonstrated inability to reason that ends up forcing people like you to pay people like me.
"Hate," as used in this thread, doesn't mean hate like rival gangs. It means "hate" in the sense of don't like the guy. As in, "don't be hating on me." It's absurd of you to suggest that anybody actually hates the man. It's equally absurd that people defend this guy's clownish behavior.

What has lebron done? Is that a joke? Let's see the decision. Not four not five not six not seven... Faking an injury in the playoffs. Whatever happened with that injured elbow? Completely mailing it in against Orlando and Boston in the playoffs. Referring to himself in the third person. I spoil people with my play. Calling himself King without ever winning anything. Completely sucking in the 4th quarter in the finals last year and blowing it for his team. Oh did I mention the decision. Shall I go on?

He should play soccer, he is the biggest flopper in the league. It makes me sick

Lol. You don't have to imagine, just look up the time that Jordan passed to John Paxson and Steve Kerr. When the ball goes in the basket, nobody second guesses.

I think the "decision" was more Lebron's PR people then his own, I do see a different side to lebron's demeanor this year. As a knicks fan I dislike Wade more then Lebron, I think he is the most overrated player in the NBA on and off the court. Ever since he won his championship he hasnt carried his team at all in the playoffs, and lets not forget the 06 NBA finals were officiated by Donaghy, Wade had a veteran team in Miami that was starphucked by guys like Shaq, Mourning, Payton, etc. He is injury prone, and he did go through a pretty nasty divorce. He gets the Tom Brady treatment from the media. Im not saying he isnt a top 5 player he is just overrated.

But he was aggressive in the 4th quarter and that pass to both Kerr and Paxson he was driving to the basket (reacting to the defense) instead of just dribbling at the top of the key like Lebron is known to do, heck your 6'8 240 use that to your advantage no one will stop you.

those are great snippets, HeGot. Did Lebron go to Duke at some point?

HuskyFan32 was replying to me, d*ckhead.

What exactly is an a**clown? I'm getting this disturbing visual of some guy in a thong with clown make-up and a red nose on his butt. The Boneyard version of The Joker perhaps?
The Urban Dictionary( http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=assclown) actually has a definition. Yikes! AND, for those of you who(like me) like to have several choices for your imagination we can start with this
assclown.jpg

and for the sake of variety you actually have quite a few selections. Hey, it's Friday and we all know "variety is the spice of life" so here we go............

It's "Pick and Choose Friday"

I was quite surprised that you can actually go to school for this.

Nobody hates the guy! Why would they unless they are a Cleveland Cavilers fan. LOL. They just hate his spoiled attitude when he hasn't won anything. I mean MJ and KB might be spoiled but at least they respected the game before they actually started winning. I never saw MJ or KB not shake hands after a tough series or be he king of flops. Neither one would have a stupid spectacle like LBJ had going to Miami. He just needs to win a title before he can act like a spoiled kid. I guess the kid really never has grown up unfortunately. He doesn't strike me as the smartest person in the world compared to both MJ and KB. I liked LBG starting out but not I just think he has gotten too full of the damn hype. Win something before you act like a fool!

People don't hate him they just have lack of respect for him.

Eh, Lebron hasn't made the wisest public relations moves but let's not act Kobe hasn't made some extremely dumb moves off the court himself. Having unprotected sex with a hotel smut and nearly going to jail over it and losing millions in endorsements at the time, getting into a relationship with an underage video "model", being strongarmed into a marriage with said underage "model", dude's not exactly all that street smart with those blunders.

Re IQ, I'd have to say that KB and MJ both probably hover somewhere in the 80s, and together they probably couldn't pass a 7th grade comprehensive test.

Evidence? Read the original 50 page police interview with Kobe. Yep. He was stupid enough to 1. talk to cops for about 20 minutes after he was accused of rape, 2. Read it - the questions he asked showed he's an idiot (but, IMO, his testimony indicated he was telling the truth - e.g. he kept telling the police that he really didn't choke the girl, he had his hands around her neck as he was doing her doggy style, and you can ask so-and-so, because I cheat on my wife with her and we do that every time. No crap. He said that). Then read Michael Jordan's HS love letter to some babe.

Then, if you can stand to have your brain put through a strainer, listen to unprepared interviews with them. They literally seem to struggle mightily to put sentences together.

There's a reason that neither says much in commercials. Love both of them on the court and as decent people. I think Kobe is disliked because he's kept to himself. He's taken the opposite tack from LeBron. Smart, particularly given how much spot light has been on him.

I'd have to say, if there was a jeopardy contest dumbed down to a 5th grade level and the contestants were KB, MJ, and the King, I'd have to go with the king.

The LeBron hate is incredibly pitiful. This is a kid still in his mid-20's who has been showered with attention from people trying to take advantage of him since he's been 14. What do you know, a kid who has been granted the name, "The Chosen One" since his teenage years has made some dumb decisions and at times lost control of his ego. Shocking! I can't even begin to imagine how outrageously cocky some of you a** hats would be if you had the talent and skillset that LeBron had.

Look, LeBron has obviously made mistakes, but the fact that his haters still cling to those moments in his life like a dumped boyfriend is incredibly sad and pathetic. I read one poster on here mention the fact that LeBron has "never overcome an adversity". Are you kidding me?? This is a kid who never had a father and lived in something like six different houses during his teen years. Please, tell me who on here has a story that compares to that. Yeah, he's talented, rich, and famous. I'm sure he'd give it all back for a father, I know I would.

So let's review some of LeBron's egregious and unforviveagle sins highlighted in this thread.

--The Decision. Critics have a legitimate beef here, as he tossed the city that loved him like few other athletes in Cleveland history under the bus on National TV. In fairness to him, I think this was more a case of his PR staff pressuring into a decision like this to expand his brand. And let's be honest, for all you shmuks ripping the self-serving one hour promotion, tell me you didn't watch it, and think about it all day. You're lying.

--Not shaking hands with the Magic in 09. He should have shown more sportsmanship, but the kid was freakin 23 years old and coming off an incredibly grueling series in which he carried the Cavs on his back and got no help. He's lost in the playoffs the last two years, and he was incredibly gracious in defeat. How about the entire Celtics team (minus West and Ray) walking off the court after game five last year? The amount of attention they received for that lack of sportsmanship wasn't 1% what LeBron got. Let's see you Celtic homers on thsi board kill Pierce and KG for it, I bet you won't. Oh yeah, it's different when it's LeBron.

--Dancing on sidelines. Holy he danced on the sidelines! Hang him! No really, it showed a lack of class, but comeon, the fact that certain people are still bi*tching about it over three years later is sad. Crucify him for being excited during a big win.

--Heat welcome party. Clearly LeBron got a little carried away. But Jeez, the guy was just trying to pump up his new home crowd. It was clearly a heat of the moment thing that he had no idea was going to linger. The Heat literally did the same thing in 05 for Shaq and nobody cared. The double standard with LeBron haters is apalling.

The selective memory some of you guys have in regards to Kobe is comical. You're talking about a guy who publicly feuded with one of the best players of all-time, pi**ed his coach off to the point he briefly retired, threw his teammates under the bus on several occasions, quit on team in game seven of 06 Suns series, publicly demanded trade the following year (but Kobe would never take the easy way out!), and hogged the ball in ways never seen before.

Oh yeah, and did I mention he freakin sexually assaulted somebody! If LeBron rubs you the wrong way, fine. But the outright hate and disgust shown by some people is illogical and outrageously bitter in comparison to other star athletes. Ben Roethlisberger, Mike Vick, and Kobe are not ridiculed on nearly the same level, and they have in some cases, allegedly committed much worse acts of violence and cruelty than LeBron hurting the city of Cleveland's feelings because he didn't want Mo Williams to be his Pippen.

By the way, name me the worst off-court incident LeBron has been involved in since the decision. The man clearly has realized the errors in his ways, adjusted to criticism, and become more mature as a person. Get the *k over it and enjoy his brilliance as a basketball player.

Kobe's actually very intelligent. IQ wise he's above average. That report reads like a scared kid, not an idiot. (And was actually hilarious "She's a very attractive girl." "She's not that attractive.) The guy can speak four languages, he doesn't struggle with one.

He doesn't say much because he's terribly uncharismatic.

I don't think Lebron is dumb either. It's the other aspects of his personality that steer him towards dumb decisions. (As is with Kobe.)

I don't know about MJ.

He doesn't say much because he's terribly uncharismatic.

This. Kobe and MJ are both very intelligent, arrogant, and brash. Kobe comes across as a real jerk. Not someone you would want to know. I don't think James is in their league as far as IQ but he's not stupid, he just needs to grow up.

This. Kobe and MJ are both very intelligent.
Where the hell do you guys get this from? They're borderline morons. Get your head out of your ass.

Here's the opening paragraph from MJ's high school letter to a sweetheart (pretty damn funny it's to a "lakette"):

My Dearest Laquette
How are you and your family doing, fine I hope. I am in my Adv. Chemistry class writing you a letter, so that tell you how much I care for you. I decide to write you because I felt that I made you look pretty rotten after the last night. I want to tell you that I am sorry, and hope that you except my apologie. I know that you feelings was hurt whenever I loss my necklace or had it stolen.
That's a verbatim rendition. Guy's an idiot, don't kid yourselves. I'm not sure why, when a guy is famous, people want to make him out to be smart. He's a great ball player. Why does that make him smart? He's not smart. He's pretty damn unintelligent. That doesn't make him a better or worse person, it just means it's silly to conflate basketball legend with IQ.

Regarding Kobe - the 4 language thing gets thrown around a lot. I could give a crap less what languages he learned when he was in europe as a kid. Any kid living in a foreign country will pick up the language to some extent. Given that Kobe struggles to speak coherently in English, I'm guessing the "speaking" in the other 3 languages is probably equivalently challenged or worse.

Read this part of his police interview, in which the guy is singing like a canary, and tell me he's intelligent . . .

The fact that your pointing to a letter he wrote in high school to demean his IQ tells me more about your intelligence than it does his.

If you've listened to Kobe speak, you'd know he has no problem putting together a coherent thought in english. I think of him as one of the more intelligent players in the league. Again, you're pointing to a police interview to try to prove your point, a situation where he was likely under a great deal of pressure and unable to think clearly. There are very intelligent people who have trouble thinking under pressure.

You're probably right. I don't know these guys personally (OTOH, Jordan is a terrible team owner).
