OT: Harford scene biggest joke ever?

The B1G tourney crowds are pretty weak too... I know the AAC is not much of a draw and the obvious instant death of Hartford scares some away, but it seems that the college basketball crowd as a whole is diminishing. Am I wrong in this belief?

But really, WTF is the big 10 doing in DC? Things have gotten so up. Conference realignment has screwed everything. Who cares if you brought in MD! Big 10 belongs in Chicago or Indy.

I agree, but it's the permanent home of the AAC women's tourney. They probably don't want to play them both there. Many years ago some conferences experimented with having their men's and women's tourneys together in one venue at the same time. Women's games during the day, men's games at night. I'm not sure it worked out really well.

Hartford is a truly terrible city but this isn't the city's fault. This conference makes absolutely no geographical sense so to expect good crowds is naive. Not a fair critique/

I'm sorry, but with 20+ good bars and restaurants downtown and West Hartford Center a few minutes away, I think this whole Hartford whine fest is just ridiculous. What do basketball fans do in between games in major cities? Most of us sit in bars watching March Madness on tv. Hartford provides plenty for that.

In NY or Boston we walk miles to go to some restaurants or we take a cab/Uber. No different to grab a ride to West Hartford Center.

For the curious...UNC has been ranging 18-19 thousand average game...dropped to just below 18,000 in 2010 (their worst attendance year...

Most of the teams in the AAC can't get a crowd to their home games let alone have them travel. Doesn't matter the venue. CT makes sense on the gamble that UConn will play most days. But Mohegan would be the better option.

Honestly what more is there to do at Mohegan as opposed to Hartford? There are more restaurants and bars in Hartford then in Mohegan. You can walk to all of them or Uber to WH Center if you want. If you wanna go anywhere outside Mohegan you'd likely need a car or pay a hefty fee for transportation. What would you do at Mohegan after you go to a few restaurants? This is even more true for folks who don't gamble. The casino is fun for a night out but not a place I'd pay a lot of money to fly to and stay at.

I saw the loser Mayor (Bronin) on TV Friday AM and he was talking about 50k people coming in for the AAC tourney.

Did anyone see a few minutes of the ECU-SMU game? I doubt there were more than 200 people in the whole place. It was hugely embarrassing. They literally were playing in an empty gym.

What some of our basketball centric fanbase doesn't understand is most of the schools in this league are FB, not BB schools. Houston, SMU, Tulsa, Tulane, USF, UCF, East Carolina and Navy are all FB schools. Cincinnati used to be a BB school but in recent history FB has become as important if not more important. You're left with a few BB schools, Memphis, Temple and us.

I think it is Yard Goats. What a disaster that has been so far with the stadium. I hope they do well with the investment but many do not.
