I'd go with Doowutchyalike and Kiss You Back, but yeah the Humpty Dance was far and away their best known.

Digital Underground was a well known and innovative act during of the Golden Age of hip hop. They also worked a lot with Parliament-Funkadelic and gave Tupac his
start.

I guess you like them....but according to WikiPedia, "Kiss You Back" reached #40 on the US charts and none of the others even charted.

Don't know why you are arguing this, Digital Underground was a pretty big hip-hop group for close to 20 years. They worked with George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Big Pun, KRS-1 etc. They had a platinum album, gold records, songs in movies, and a bunch of songs on the R&B charts. Just because you've only heard one of their songs doesn't make them a one hit wonder.

Toad the Wet Sprocket actually have a pretty good two year run of top 40 hits...All I want, Walk on the Ocean, Fall Down, Something's Always Wrong.... ;)

Just to clarify, from what I see, "songs in movies" include the movies "Nothing But Trouble" starring Dan Ackroyd and Chevy Chase and "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood" by the Wayan Brothers. I admit I didn't see either of those films.

To me, the people in the "Digital Underground absolutely ARE NOT a one hit wonder" camp are wrong. One hit wonder doesn't mean they made one good song and the rest are total crap, it means they had one hit.

If you ask everyone out on the street from age 15-55 to name all the digital underground songs they know, I think at least 90% would either only know the humpty dance or not even know it was by a group named digital underground. There are people who liked all of these bands, some of those people might even have the awareness to still consider them a one hit wonder

"No Rain" was Blind Melon's only Top 40 hit. But are we counting the "mainstream rock" charts also??
 
I guess now is the time to mention Tony Burrows, King on the One Hit Wonders. He sang lead vocals on:

Beach Baby - First Class (my favorite OHW)

Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes) - Edison Lighthouse
United We Stand - Brotherhood of Man
Gimme Dat Ding - The Pipkins (an all time hate song for me)

Anyone who is over the age of 30 and likes hip-hop knows Digital Underground, knows it's where Tupac got his start and knows more than the Humpty Dance. Shock G is a big name in hip-hop music.

"Tones of Home" was the first single by alternative rock band Blind Melon. It was released in 1992 and reached #20 on Billboard's modern rock chart..."Tones of Home" was released again with a new video, a sequel to the "No Rain" video and its "Bee Girl" storyline. Upon re-release, the song reached #10 on the mainstream rock chart.

JD Souther is more of a song writer than performer. He has a number of co-writing credits on Eagles songs.

All due respect to VH1, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are a one hit wonder in the same manner as the Cohen Brothers are Oscar nominees for The Big Lebowski. They are not huge in the Taylor Swift sense of of the entertainment term, but they have a huge cult following. MMB have been together in one form or another for over 30 years. Besides The Impression That I Get, they also had songs in movies (Clueless and The Hammer) and one of the their songs was adopted by Adam Carolla for the intro to his daily podcast.

Most of the acts on that list caught lightning in a bottle and break up/fade away within a few years. A good amount of the songs are awful to boot.
 
Deepster, since you seem fixated with the billboard charts where Digital Underground clearly has two hits which is more than Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Public Enemy and the Grateful Dead who I also don't consider one hit wonders.

Dude, what hip hop heads over the age of 30 know is irrelevant... When discussing "one hit wonders" you are discussing groups as they are known to the overall population. A musician or a group making a list of one hit wonders doesn't make them automatically a joke... I'm convinced Shock G himself is at the other end of one of these Boneyard accounts. Like I dressed up as Shock G for Halloween within the last 10 years, but Digital Underground are a one hit wonder!!!

Some Canadian teens might love Carly Rae Jepsen, but she's a one hit wonder...

I'm sure the buggles had a lot of fantastic bangers back in the day, but they're a one hit wonder

Put Em on the Glass was a funny song back in the day but sorry Sir-Mix-A-Lot, you're a one hit wonder

I loved "Havin' a Roni" by Vanilla Ice, makes me laugh every time, but he's a one hit wonder
 
I was thinking of starting a thread called "Two Hit Wonders besides Digital Underground" but thought better of it. But if I did it would include Redbone and The Foundations.
