People who have any doubt about the severity of LeBron's cramps are either LeBron haters, or have never had a severe cramp, or, likely both. Sad really.

It really is sad. Nobody can prepare to play a basketball game in a 90-degree gym.. and yes everybody played in the same conditions, but not everyone's body responds the same to external conditions. He obviously loses fluid more rapidly than some other guys do, seeing as how this has happened a few times before (as recently as last series against Indiana).. and playing in a sauna is only gonna magnify the situation.

You could see it as soon as he came down from that drive. His leg locked up immediately. I get awful cramps that shock me out of bed sometimes. That is a terrible pain.

Glad I'm not the only one who has gotten that cramp in the middle of the night.. lol.. thighs, foot, calf.. it's agonizing.

I don't think I made my point correctly. I don't know whether it is Lebron's playing style v. MJ, or the way the triangle offense was set up for MJ (and Kobe for that matter), or maybe even the way the games are called these days, but I've always been able to "see" Lebron's greatness, but I don't feel like watching him play is that special most of the time. I don't know why I feel that way. But to me it is a little like Emmitt Smith v. Barry Sanders. Emmitt may have been better, but on Thanksgiving day the guy that kept your eyes glued to the TV was Barry Sanders.

I feel the same and its because of his playing style for me. When his career is all said and done Bron will go down as either #2 or #1 with MJ but there are other players I feel way more compelled to watch, including current players in the league who aren't close to him as a player.

Really? I guess everyone has their own thing but watching LeBron play (especially live in the arena) is something special to me. And I've seen lots of the great ones live. CP3 (stupid good in person), Blake, Kobe, Dirk, Melo, KD, Westbrook.. the only one who comes close imo is Westbrook.. you can't appreciate how freaky good he is until you see it live. If not for LeBron, Westbrook would be the craziest athlete I've ever seen.

No way Emmitt was better IMO. That was more a function of having a long career than anything. Barry plays 5 more years and this ain't a discussion. Also, Barry played with absolute junk, yet 10 years-> 10 pro bowls, 8 All Pros. Emmitt played with Hall of Famers. I read somewhere that Barry played with about 1 probowl offensive line player in his entire career (can't remember the actual stat so correct me if I'm wrong). Sorry for the rant.

On MJ/Lebron, I agree with you. There's an "it" factor with great players that pisses stats guys off to no end when you mention it. Jordan had "it" moreso than any other BB player (probably any athlete in general) in my lifetime. Lebron def has "it", but not to the degree Mike did. JMO.

If I'm playing Lebron in the playoffs, I'm pumping the heat in my home stadium 10 times out of 10 (4 out of 4 really, but whatever). The Heat do the opposite:

If you look at all the names on the Heat roster... It's really astounding that they couldn't pull it together when LeBron went down. But as the building got hotter so did the Spurs. I'm not exactly sure but they must have hit 5 straight threes to close it out at the end.

Magic played center when Kareem went down in his first finals appearance. Magic could score if he had to, but was a better floor general than Lebron is today.

You're right, but LeBron isn't asked to be the floor general: he's asked to score. Not really fair to compare the two.

And if LeBron couldn't play, I'm not going to judge him: as others have said, cramps are terribly painful. He's not MJ, although he can do things MJ couldn't and he's the closest to him since 1998.

As for the game itself, I thought both teams played pretty poorly (until Q4 for SAS) after a solid start. While LeBron missed a lot of time, I just see no way the Spurs commit that many turnovers going forward. They are too good. So that's why I don't think we can take anything from this game.

LeBron is every bit the passer that Magic was. But, in addition, he can shoot the long ball. He has tremendous speed. He has tremendous quickness. He has tremendous power.

Can't put LeBron on that team or in that era for that matter because basketball was different back then. He definitely has the build, but not only was defense played differently back then (meaning what is a foul now was playing physical defense then), but he would have been playing with people a lot closer to his talent level. Kevin Durant is an awesome player, but there is no one in the NBA that is anywhere near LeBron's level. Look back at the 8o's with Magic, Bird, Jordan and the next tier Isaiah, Karl Malone and even Barkley and Ewing. It took MJ years to get over the Celtics then the eventual Bad Boy Pistons and then he never lost a finals since. LeBron and the Heat are playing in a talentless conference and an even overrated league compared to generations past.

That team goes as far LeBron takes them though. I think those Lakers also went as far Magic brought them. If you want to say both are their respective team's catalyst that makes everything run the way it supposed to that may be a better term. LeBron is the best player in the NBA and no one is questioning that. I also thinks he benefits playing in a weaker, pansy rules NBA then that of what made the NBA playoffs exciting a long time ago. There was a reason why it was called No Boys Allowed.

the talent level today is leaps and bounds higher than in the 80s. There are guys who started in the 80s who wouldn't even see the floor in the NBA today. Sure, there were very talented players, but the athleticism level on the court today is crazy compared to those days.

While your not wrong, Magic did play and defend some other spots, notably center in some playoff games. KM's defense was far better for sure.

My point was merely watching a big guy play PG, at which Magic was superlative.
