You're right, but LeBron isn't asked to be the floor general: he's asked to score. Not really fair to compare the two.

And if LeBron couldn't play, I'm not going to judge him: as others have said, cramps are terribly painful. He's not MJ, although he can do things MJ couldn't and he's the closest to him since 1998.

As for the game itself, I thought both teams played pretty poorly (until Q4 for SAS) after a solid start. While LeBron missed a lot of time, I just see no way the Spurs commit that many turnovers going forward. They are too good. So that's why I don't think we can take anything from this game.

LeBron is every bit the passer that Magic was. But, in addition, he can shoot the long ball. He has tremendous speed. He has tremendous quickness. He has tremendous power.

Any doubt they win 5 or 6 titles in a row in the 80s? Can't even imagine putting LeBron with Worthy and Jabbar as a third option.

Or how about swapping LeBron out for Bird?

Can't put LeBron on that team or in that era for that matter because basketball was different back then. He definitely has the build, but not only was defense played differently back then (meaning what is a foul now was playing physical defense then), but he would have been playing with people a lot closer to his talent level. Kevin Durant is an awesome player, but there is no one in the NBA that is anywhere near LeBron's level. Look back at the 8o's with Magic, Bird, Jordan and the next tier Isaiah, Karl Malone and even Barkley and Ewing. It took MJ years to get over the Celtics then the eventual Bad Boy Pistons and then he never lost a finals since. LeBron and the Heat are playing in a talentless conference and an even overrated league compared to generations past.

That team goes as far LeBron takes them though. I think those Lakers also went as far Magic brought them. If you want to say both are their respective team's catalyst that makes everything run the way it supposed to that may be a better term. LeBron is the best player in the NBA and no one is questioning that. I also thinks he benefits playing in a weaker, pansy rules NBA then that of what made the NBA playoffs exciting a long time ago. There was a reason why it was called No Boys Allowed.

While your not wrong, Magic did play and defend some other spots, notably center in some playoff games. KM's defense was far better for sure.

My point was merely watching a big guy play PG, at which Magic was superlative.

Jordan was just getting started when those guys were coming to the tale end. It's pretty normal he didn't start winning championships until he had a few years under his belt. Yeah, but you can't really compare between eras in that regard though. The guys today had far more advantages in terms of preparation/knowledge/training throughout their careers. Make Lebron go from birth to 30 in that era, and it's a different story.

With all due respect, me being 31 has nothing to do with yesterday's vs today's game. 90% of the players today wouldn't make an NBA roster due to low basketball IQ and just not physically ready to play against grown men.

That's true, but it's not like those teams went to hell without Jordan. The '94 team barely lost in the second round to a Knicks team that was a hair away from winning the title. When LeBron left Cleveland, they went from a 60+ win team to literally the worst team in the league overnight. That 2007 team he took to the finals has to be the worst roster I've ever seen in an NBA finals, outside of him.

Jordan beat Magic in 1991--and Magic was not only second in MVP voting, but had just won the previous two NBA MVPs. Hardly over the hill. He was 32 that year. But let's not forget that both Bird (Johnson, McHale, Parish) and Magic (Abdul-Jabbar, Worthy) played with better teammates than Jordan did. It wasn't until Grant and Pippen came into their own that they even had the guns to compete.

As for the Bulls teams not falling off a cliff: they didn't. Pippen put up a great year. But they had other additions that helped them excel. It wasn't the same exact team, or anything.
