at the end of his career lebron will be known as the GOAT. number 1, so eat it haters. and i'm not even a heat fan, i'm just find all this bron hate repulsive. he is clearly doing legendary on the court. look at the trajectory.
Eh. It's possible. But MJ has 6 titles to go with 6 Finals MVPs. He never lost a NBA Finals series. He has 5 MVPs--I suspect James will pass him there, although Jordan should have 7 (and James 5). Jordan also won an MVP and DPOY in the same year. LeBron isn't going to do that.

Jordan's career PER is also slightly better than James'--and that's including Jordan's late 30s and 40--James' number may go up, but those last years bring it back down a bit.

Also, as is oft said, Jordan played in an era that allowed hand-checking: who knows what would have happened if he played today.

MJ would be unstoppable if he played in this era. As if he wasn't already.

How has PER ratings changed league wide from Jordan's time until now? Anyone know?

The PER is set at a league average of 15 every year--so it is relative to peers.
fun fact lebron once had a playoffs with a 37+ PER. 14 games. at the age of 24.
After all lebron has accomplished, only a disgruntled knicks fan could paint him in a light of 'not giving enough effort". kinda sad but whatever, I'll enjoy witnessing history when he 3peats.

Well there you go. Shows what I know. So there's no way to adjust and compare between eras? (I realize changing the stat would be involved).

Please don't put words in my mouth. If he 3peats, I'm happy that it would make your day.

I'm sure there are other stats, and I don't think PER is the be-all and end-all. But I do think there's something to be said for how much one player dominates his own generation. It feels like one of the only logical ways to have a discussion about who is the best all time.

And it's crazy bc LeBron plays harder than pretty much any superstar you'll see. He's one of the few guys you'll see who doesn't run back on defense.. he SPRINTS back on defense, especially in transition.

I do like that about him, and I do like watching him play. And yes, he is the best player in the league (sorry KD & TD*). He's definitely grown as a player, both skill and maturity wise over his career. You can't say that about every guy.

I will hold on to my assertions that he is a dooche off the court. Not a bad guy at all, but a dooche. Also, I don't like the flops in the least.

*TD does not get enough props in those conversations. IMO, best power forward to play the game. Dirk, at his peak, was up there too. Amazing to have both those guys playing at the same time.

I don't think it's debatable that TD is the best PF of all time.. I like Miami but I also like Dirk so I wasn't TOO disappointed that Dallas beat Miami the 2nd time. I figured that would be his last real opportunity to win a title and I knew Miami would have plenty more shots at it.

Also keep in mind that in Game 1, despite sitting out the last seven minutes or whatever of regulation, he still played as many minutes as anyone else in the game, other than Parker who played 4 more.

All these idiot haters make me more and more of a LeBron fan. I'd love to see him win it all for the threepeat and turn the meme around on everyone.

It's a shame really.. There's a decent chance that this is the best player (or at least one of the best 2) that any of us will see in our lifetime. But I guess you have to keep in mind that people talked bad about MJ too.. until they couldn't anymore

Yeah I think the spurs are the better team. They play a better type of team basketball. Also tony parker is barely ever talked about and IMO he's top 2-3 pg.

Another myth.... Miami plays team basketball just as much as the Spurs do. They just do it different ways... Spurs play high pick and roll with Tyler Phommachanh and a big and play off that action.. or they play thru a TD post-up.. Miami plays off non-standard pick and rolls but same concept.. they use their ball movement to get good shots off it. Or they post LeBron (both high and low) and run the offense thru him. The only big difference is Miami has more superstar greatness to bail them out when things go bad.

Side note, one of the reasons that I don't like Miami is that many of their fans are d!ckwads (not speaking of yourself). They are like the worst part of the Laker fans (the "want to be seen" crowd) multiplied by a factor of 2+.

You could make a pretty good argument that, at one point, the five best power forwards in history were all in the league together. In the late 90s, after Dirk, Duncan, and Garnett got in, before Barkley and Malone retired. That's probably my top-5.

I'd probably throw McHale in there too, but you make a good point.

I get what you mean...

But at the same time if South Park drew a cartoon of the average LeBron hater, it wouldn't be much better, IMHO. Maybe Kenny's Dad or the "You Kin Giiiit Ouuut" guy. The only people I give a free pass to are Cavaliers fans, and there's like fifty of them.

That's the people you can see on TV.. the 300 and 400 levels are the diehards who can't afford decent seats and those are the "real" fans. I went to Games 3 and 5 in Miami in 2o12 vs OKC and I was in the 400 level.. it's a good atmosphere in the playoffs

Each team committed 20 fouls

And the FT attempts were virtually equal as well.. and that's rare because Miami pretty much NEVER wins the FT battle against championship caliber teams (yet somehow the refs are helping them)
