OT- Derrick Rose

Yes, but Bill Simmons, albeit entertaining, doesn't actually know if he knows what he's talking about.

Rose cheated in order to be eligible for an ultimately fruitless attempt to get that greaseball used car salesman a national championship at Memphis. I've never liked him.

Airtight logic all around.

Are you really comparing your experience on an eighth grade basketball team to inserting yourself in the middle of the NBA playoffs and expecting a lesson to be drawn?

My point was I don't see "waiting to be mentally comfortable" as legitimate grounds for sitting out a playoff series while his teammates are out there playing with legitimate injuries. I don't think anybody is recommending he plays hurt here, but the "he knows his body better than anybody" line of reasoning seems a bit flawed to me when there is going to be a natural uneasiness returning from an injury like this, regardless of when you return. If there is any evidence you can provide suggesting he's at risk of over-compensating and thus more prone to future injuries, I'll be willing to change my stance 180 degrees. If he's not in game shape, fine. But all indications are he is, and that he's practicing on a daily basis and more than holding his own. Obviously thrusting yourself into the midst of a playoff series isn't ideal, but I think everybody associated with the organization would prefer that to the alternative.

We saw AJ Price come back from his ACL tear and that was in March of 08, obviously it took him sometime to regain his all-american but after the first month or so he regained it. Heck we have seen Uconn chicks come back from an ACL tear.

I get the impression that Rose is just an overly sensitive guy there is nothing wrong about that but I just get that impression about him. Maybe he just cant handle having to go through an adjustment and thats where the mental part comes into play. Coming back now would be to late in a playoff series especially against Lebron (if the Bulls advance). I really thought Rose would return right after the all star break.

Interesting topic I tend to think the youngest MVP of all time can do whatever the hell he wants. his make up would suggest he would do anything to be on the court. If he isn't comfortable he could overcompensate and get a different injury.

Please he should be out there playing. Instead he is showing just what a selfish individual he truly is.

One time during a game of horse I got stung by a bee on my left ankle. I was so shaken up I conceded the next 2 letters to my rival. Doubt began to fill my head and I knew my jump shot would never be the same. Instead of taking a chance, Maybe shooting on one leg or behind the back. I decided the swelling was too bad and I could smell my mom was baking a tasty cake, so I threw in the towel and went inside. I knew I had let my friends down that day and they would never look at me the same again. I quit going outside after that, deciding it was too risky, too many dangers outside my door.

10 years later I write this from my parents basement, a 35 year old virgin, wondering what could have been if I toughed that game out and played through the pain. I hope D Rose not only considers the name Gilbert Arenas, Magic Johnson but also just maybe Bryan Lord and the road not taken.

If hes allergic to bees on the other hand he best not ever play again.

This thread has now gone completely insane.

I woukd lije to thank Uconnfan for, as usual, destroying his own argument with easily mocked anecdotes

Yes because you know his threshold for pain, mentally and physically. Stick to the Giants bill.

No. He's saying D Rose has the mental and physical toughness of an 8th grader.

Rose is stealing money from the Bulls and abandoning his teammates. He's been cleared to play for two months - he just doesn't want to. I don't remember Adrien Peterson whining about muscle memory.

Hinrich and Noah have more reason to sit out, but those two keep showing up every night.

I don't think Thibodeau or anyone on the Bulls is "okay with it" - what can they say? They're stuck with this oaf and can't afford to alienate him.

People in this thread need to stop saying he's hurt, he isn't hurt anymore, hasn't been for months. He's the only healthy guy on the team now and he just doesn't want to play. Muscle memory is the new excuse and it's absolutely absurd it.

If he had just been hurt like RGIII I could see it as RGIII came back way to early. Then I look at Adrien Petersen who came back like gang busters and had an MVP season. By the way it has been an year since he was hurt. Others on the team are hurting and playing though the pain and he is 100% but is waiting to be a 120% before he plays.

I didn't come back to the Boneyard right away after getting my new account cleared. I had a new phone and Tapatalk, and I didn't trust the muscle memory in my fingers. The last thing I wanted was to come back during the postseason, and post something about the big Kemba took. That could've ruined the mojo.

Blah blah blah blah. It's not your life. It's his.

He's still stringing it out, today saying that his return is still "up in the air" and that he might play against Miami at some point. Why can't he just give it a rest?
