Sometimes he tries to do too much tonight not so.Mayer ended the set with a great solo during Don't Ease Me In. He is the driving force when they shine. Good stuff.
Never thought it would suck and glad to hear the reports. Getting some good texts from friends who are there too.
My problem is just that, my problem. I wish I could overcome the often too-slow pace and the fact that I'd be praising and counting on the only guys who were never actually in the band, but I can't.
I realize it's stupid objectively because there is little doubt in my mind that I gleefully enjoyed many nights when Jerry wasn't even coherent, much less inspired, and I'm sure Mayer is both with these guys--because he has to be.
It just doesn't feel right to me no matter how hard I try.
Looks like a nice set list, especially second set.I guess I am willing to endure aome snoozers in between Mayer ripping it up. And O'tiel is right as rain. You put Chimenti with them and its real nice...when the opportunity presents itself. But Bobby is Bobby, and somehow, someway he has earned a lifetime pass. He still clearly loves it, and I think thats enough for me, when surrounded by 3 monsters.
Yup. Nice LL Rain out of D/S. Been watching the setlists to see what I can expect in Buffalo / Ohio next week. Especially for my wife's benefit. Her enjoyment is a lot more tied into what they play than mine.Looks like a nice set list, especially second set.

Yeah, I'm on '93 now in the audio book and almost at the end, and although it is necessary to complete the overall excellent "unabridged" history, it's not nearly as enjoyable hearing about their [what I consider to be final] chapter. Actually pretty sad.Well put. I was at what are universally decreed as the worst gd shows ever played ( 8/24/85 boreal ridge and 10/13/90 Stockholm) I had exceptional fun at both even while recognizing in real time they were “ off nights”.
( side note: I think people throw 94-95 out of judging “ worst show “ categories because pretty much EVERY show was horrible)
It’s totally just a me thing not a them thing. Glad people had fun. Caught some of last nights stream. Mayer sounded good.
Live Music | The Ocean Mist Beach Bar
Lots of music lovers here so a little schedule for all of you with some nice shows at the Ocean Mist at Matunuck Beach RI.. Amongst the performers this summer NRBQ, Max Creek, Fogerty & Beaver Brown and they say Steve Smith and the Nakeds are really good but I have not witnessed them yet but will do so this summer. Fun venue for those who haven't made it to The Mist!
Whelp go figure.
I’m laid up on the couch for a few days and tuned on the Dead and co stream from Citi field.
It was, to me, the best 1st set I’ve heard out of them. All the reasons I said they don’t move me earlier in this thread were gone.
Tempos were on point. Bobby was patient.didnt try to force things, and Mayer and chimenti took over. Just an all around fantastic set.
Oteil absolutely crushed a comes a time too.
Very impressed.
I agree, but I would like the ticket price to reflect that, too, though; I think the attempt to sell it as the Dead is what bothers me most. As I've said, I love JRAD, which is a bunch of younger, great, innovative musicians breathing new life into the cannon. I have no problem with that.I would go if it was just those three. I bet they would absolutely kill it if given the freedom to do so.
And being there is so, SO much better, too.Whelp go figure.

My wife and I listened to a bit of the show last night on Sirius and liked what we heard.
Did you get to Mikkeller? If you are ever considering going, check stub hub. Our tix were only $35 each. Granted, we were in the top tier behind home plate, but it was fine. Citi field was a very cool spot to watch the show. Planes were flying in and out right overhead, see nyc in the backdrop. Beautiful setting
Did you get to Mikkeller?
Yes it’s the brewery. And that’s great re your gal’s dad. Maybe get your dad some of what he smoked!I don’t know what that is, so no. Is that the brewery? We were running a bit late so unfortunately had no tailgating time...went straight in. My girlfriends dad did find a way to get absolutely blasted, though. He smoked a joint of 5 year old weed that had basically turned to dust and it took him to the moon. Was his first show in 15 years. He actually sort of cried out of happiness. It was a really cool moment that I’ll remember forever seeing the show with her dad. He’s a super cool guy and my dad and I don’t get along well, so it just felt special.
Good to hear! We're headed to Darien Lakes and Cuyuhoga Falls this week.I’ve seen em a handful of times maybe 1/2 dozen since inception. Nothing touched what they were up to last night.
Nice set last night. I had a great time taking my Mom to first show, but all in on JRad from here on out. As well as working towards my 150th Phish show....got Camden, CurveBall, Hampton and NYE run all set. Nothing is more therapeutic than live music. Happy Father's day all.
The first set through HSF to open 2nd were great.
ST Stephen was a hot mess . First the botching of 2 consecutive verses and then the jam ( which was pretty great in parts) fell apart when they shifted from 4 count to 3 and couldn't count to get back into the final verse. A dead stop Trainwreck.
But the resulting William tell bridge> eleven ( both d and c first time played) were pretty decent.
What I really liked is that for those three songs Mayer switched from his main PRS with the center single coil pickup installed ( which sounds like a strat) to a dual humbucker PRS which did a great job of echoing Jerrys late 60's Gibson SG tone.
A subtle but really cool choice,

heck of a second setAlpine Valley Saturday.
Looks like Mayer got into Mickeys "owsley stash" friday night
Shoreline Amphitheater tonight and tomorrow.
Autzen was Saturday.
