OT: Chad Dawson vs Andre Ward...who's watching?

It's an interesting matchup on paper - could be a good fight given the talent out there or it could be crushingly dull given their styles.

I'm watching and agree could be bad matchup style, but Chad is coming forward being aggressive so that is making it interesting. Chad is getting in some good right hands.

Dawson did well just to get out of the fourth round, but oh, my, does he leave his head wide open.

Dawson thought he was going to be the stronger fighter and impose his will. Woops!

To this point, Dawson has learned that he doesn't have a will and he doesn't have a chin either.

He's just getting smoked.

He never throws punches - I mean never.

Almost a wonder why he went into that line of work - he likes boxing, but he hates punching people.

He's sparring while Ward is fighting. Chad fight like this all the time. Pose throw punches that miss and hold.

It was the first good thing Dawson did all night - he got out without being injured. I don't blame him for throwing in the towel.

He was completely outclassed, completely.

Agree he was taking to much punishment. Don't want to end up speaking like Tommy Hearns.

He couldn't mount any offense. Can't believe Andre dominated him like that. Ward has a little more pop than given credit for. His fights won't be free for much longer.

the last time Dawson showed me anything to be impressed by was the Adamek fight, I gave up on him after he let an unskilled Pascal dominate him. I didn't have much hope going in, the rumors of him getting knocked out cold by Edison Miranda in sparring let me know he had no chance. Ward is my #2 pfp after Floyd, don't know what's on the horizon out there for him tho since he's already cleaned out everyone at 168 except Dirrell and they said they won't fight each other(and Dirrell needs to work his way back). He might have to move up to 175, which is already weak as it is, or hope that JCC Jr beats Sergio Martinez and finally decides to fight in his natural weight class and fight Ward. Speaking of, that JCC Jr/Martinez fight is my most anticipated fight in a very long time.

I'm not even that impressed with what I've seen from Ward. Didn't watch the fight but Dawson quit being a fighter awhile ago, have no idea what happened to him. A few years back he seemed to have everything you wanted in a fighter speed, size, defense, jab...watching him since he's just a good looking fighter who has absolutely nothing to match the look, no heart, nothing. I've always been a fan of Scully and it has to be killing him training a fighter who has nothing in the tank.

Ward was sensational last night. Thought the fight would be boring but it wasn't at all. No way JCCJR fights Ward. Bute getting blown out by Froch hurts Ward that woulda been a big fight. Maybe Golovkin will become a bigger name and move up?

Ward was absolutely terrific - and he has an edge to him that a lot of fighters don't have.

There are no fights out there for him now.

Golovkin impressed the hell outta me in his last outing on HBO, he said he wants to fight anyone from 160-168 and mentioned Ward by name, but I'd imagine Ward would want a fight that would generate a bigger payday for him right now and Golovkin can't do that yet.

Golovkin was impressive, but I don't think that's a fight that can happen now. His reps will be smart enough to know that moving up for a $500k payday is not a great idea.

Would not shock me to see Dawson win a fight or two and then see a gimicky rematch at 175.

Ya I agree Golovkin brings nothing to the table fan wise but is most likely his toughest fight out there. Kinda think we will see a rematch with Froch. I heard someone say Ward vs Kelly Pavlik, I dont know about that one.

I actually thought Pavlik as well.

He's got a name, HBO could sell that fight and Pavlik still has some pop. Ward would beat him, of course, but still.

Or, if he wants to make a fortune, go up to 175, head to Wales and take on that Cleverely dude.

It was actually last night on HBO. I'm sure there's a replay on YouTube somewhere. (Was not a particularly entertaining fight, but surprisingly one-sided.)
