OT: Best man gifts

Functional beats decorative any day of the week. The best gifts I received are a money clip, which got me to drop my giant overstuffed wallet. You'd be surprised how little you actually need to carry.

The other was a personalized set of casino quality poker chips, personalized with my face on them. Each man got his own face, so it wouldn't be weird.

Other good gifts included the flask (everybody needs one, but since it's a large group of friends, the first guy to get married used that), maglights, cufflinks, golf stuff, Leatherman tools, swiss army knives, buck knives, one guy did engraved axes. Looking back, weapons and tools were quite popular . All engraved, of course. I have also seen bar setups, and glassware (not the best idea if you ask me, I'm not drinking out of a Joe and Mary together forever stein).

Like anything else, the Internet has most of the standard ideas. If your crew has a common interest, then something functional to that end is probably the way to go.

Thanks @John. I laughed so loud at that my wife asked what was so funny. So then I had to explain both the melon baller thread and this one. This, like all our boneyard conversations, ended with a shake of the head.

Did the same thing! My wife checked it out. Got smacked hard enough I thought one of CTMike's Louisville Sluggers made their way into our home!

I just received a Taylor Made Ghost putter for being my buddies best man a few months ago..........good gift.

All depends what they like. If they're golfers you get them a gift certificate to Pine Hills in Plymouth MA to play both courses and they'll be thrilled

Nothing, not a bloody thing. With none of the B.S., it helped my wife and I just agreed to elope. We just got married, went to Bali, kicked back, and avoided all of the useless B.S. Unless you count a reasonable share of drinks with friends at later points in time, and a couple small dinners with family, not even a penny back. Win, win!
