OT: 2024 Olympics (non basketball)

Lyles annoys me - I get it this sport needs stars.

But, damn, Sydney is the star. Always classy, and damn - just her 6th world record. She ran 50.37 in the 400H. Tomorrow we’ll see if that would have taken 6th place in the open 400. Good chance it will prove to be the case.

I think she gets more than enough attention (and is quite deserving).

Holloway is pure class and gets close to zero attention. Absolutely unbeatable at 60.

I don't mind Lyles He draws more attention to the sport and I like his swagger. You know who got waaaaay too much attention that didn't deserve it and got on late night TV shows in 2012?

,...,.........
Lolo Jones. When she lost her race, I think 100m, all the cameras went to her and no one went to the American who won the gold. To this day I still don't remember who won that gold, but I remember Lolo Jones because the media shoved her down our throats with the oversaturated coverage.

Sydney probably wins anyway because she's the best in the world but I wonder how much competing in that mixed relay hurt Femke Bol, she got dusted today and had nothing down the stretch, there's a reason why the US isn't putting their best in that event. Happy that Cockrell got silver, she's been fun to watch.

Yeah, I think if Femke were fresh, should might have run 50.7-50.9. She’s got legit speed, probably about .25 behind Sydney in an open 400. I think she ran about 49.25 during indoor, which is insane.

Both she and Thomas did a nice job of fighting through adversity in recent years. It is nice to persistence rewarded like that.

It was unfortunate that Little didn't get the gold in the mixed, but she is another person desperate for an Olympic moment that had her had work rewarded this Olympics.

A lot of the track women at this Olympics are really good looking.
Is she still around?

Does it seem like there is less competition this year? I know Russians are not allowed but it also seems like there are fewer Germans and Eastern Europeans. Of course I root for the USA but I don't have that sense of "we have to win" like I used to. I feel like the Romanians got hosed in that whole floor exercise debacle.

Good news/s. Breaking aka break dancing is starting Olympic competition today. As a traditionist (old dude), this doesn't seem like an Olympic sport, but I will take a peek.

A British pub, in my area, is now promoting dart throwing as an Olympic sport.

This girl is great looking too...

She is lovely and also seems like a great and fun person. She met her future husband Hunter while both were in high school. He had both legs amputated due to fibular hemimelia when he was 11 months old. He is now a 400m sprinter in the Paralympics and will compete in a few weeks. Cool story.

She could probably double if the events weren't so closely scheduled. She looks like she could be sub 47.

Germany has been a non-entity this whole summer olympics and that is definitely different.
