Yeah, about 10-15 years ago, Harvard was the only Ivy school with an acceptance rate under 10%. I think the Penn rate was one of the highest at 20-25%. Now most are in the low teens or lower. I think the Brown rate has fallen under 10% from about 17% a decade ago. Among other things, the use of the Common App allows kids to apply to larger numbers of schools. Brown used to require a handwritten 1-page essay.The competiton for admits to Ivies, MIT, Duke, Stanford---off the chart. More difficult than ever.
