Wow, after everything Hurley and the staff have built here, we’re really second guessing who they bring in now? I guess we should have aimed higher on Malachi and Millender.🙄

Agreed. No reason to overreact. Our system works. We did pretty well over the past 4 years with a 6'8" PF. And we held our own on the boards--and defensively--against UM.

I didn’t say big- I said size & length at the positions- especially at the guard positions- with the focus on the 2024 team.

Other programs noticed & decided to the same- especially like a Duke- reason why although haven’t cut down the nets have had back to back great seasons overall (2025- 1 KP 2026- 3 KP). Duke has decided similar ideology to have serious length at as many positions as possible.

Also, part of the reason why Hurley was beating himself up all of 2025 because he realized he made a mistake with not bringing positional size & length at point guard (Mahaney/Nowell)- obviously he quickly pivoted & went back to his bread & butter & brought in Silas (pretty sure his number one target & his first portal get last offseason).
 
He may play about 15 to 17 minutes per game unless Hines cleans up his propensity to foul. Hines' foul rate is quite high - top 5 in the Big East. He had 4 in 19 minutes vs us.
 
Young big body with good advanced defensive and rebounding metrics. Would make for a good backup center for sure. But I’d prefer him to back up a dominant C1 like a Tarris or a Clingan or a Sanogo. Don’t love a Hines/Giltay C rotation for a team with championship aspirations, at least not in year 1

Assuming there would be more portal additions to be made? Or is the C market just absolutely insane right now?

Shorter physical height, but taller when you factor in his vert and block timing/instinct

A decent center is 1.5 million if not more.

Yeah I hope he is just someone they will be using for depth piece and will bringing in someone like Chol.

Every few days it hits me how strong a chance we had to go 4 in a row. Can you imagine how confident we would have been after beating Florida. Hope no one reminds me for another few weeks.

After that wasted time figuring out the proper pronunciation of "Reibe," he is "Guilty" until he signs.

Not at all. Giltay has some nice tools to work with already, and staff will coach him up.

I freely admit that I was strong in my belief that Hurley would not go into next year without going out and bringing in a backup point guard in addition to a freshman.

I was and am still surprised that anyone on this board or Hurley is comfortable with a freshman combo guard as the soul backup to Demary going into next year after what happened last year when we went with Diarra and Nowell (and Mahaney).

Ok, so Hurley is on board with it too. Far be it from me to question the logic, but I will also say let's revisit this once next year gets going. Because by the middle of last year practically everyone on this board, and I mean EVERYONE was lamenting our lack of depth behind Diarra. And we all know that it caused significant harm to the season, and our final results.

But hey, if the best men's college basketball coach in America is comfortable with it, I have nothing more to say about it. And if it all works out for the entire year next year, I will come on the board and eat crow. Here's hoping I am wrong.
