Tarris Reed, who was rated worse than Giltay on a much worse team tooOn non top 50 transfers who we actually need a contribution from? Name them.

This:There are actually UConn fans out there who think Hurley is a talent merchant or something? Lol
Maybe Ricky posted it.Anyone noticing how we are living rent free in their fanbases' heads these days? Only a St. John's sycophant would concoct a message that claims a recruit picked St. John's over us because of coaching.
2 National Championships and 3 championship game appearances in 4 years versus 1 Sweet 16 appearance since 1999? Oh yeah, much better coaching. LMAO!
It goes along the same lines of how winning the Big East but failing to get past the Sweet 16 yet again is somehow worth more than getting to the National Championship game. They obviously don't grow 'em very smart there in Queens. Still one of the dumbest comments I heard from any fan base during March this year.
Well read post 1.So did Oskar Giltay commit? After 15 pages I am still unsure.
Yes it’s just unfortunate people are still talking about their alternate preferences even though our C rotation appears locked inSo did Oskar Giltay commit? After 15 pages I am still unsure.
That's not true. Tarris was a 4 star (93) #76 overall in the 247 transfer rankings. Giltay is a 3 star (89.) They don't have Giltay ranked in the top 247 transfers but at three stars with a score of (89) it seems he should be ranked anywhere from #172-#207.Tarris Reed, who was rated worse than Giltay on a much worse team too
You really went there? Tarris Reed was definitely a higher rated transfer. There was a lot higher expectations for him(remember he was at the parade) than Giltay. If you want to compare Reed vs. Hines that is fine but Giltay is a backup center at best and that is his role here which is fine. Boneyard really can go crazy with how some of these Recruits/Transfers are rated just because they committed to UConn. We needed a backup Center and got one probably at a reasonable price. Does he have upside? Sure but definitely not as much as Reed who already had a great offensive skillset.Tarris Reed, who was rated worse than Giltay on a much worse team too

Jayson Williams is an elite shooter. Ask his limo driver…I think he's talking about player development. Look, UConn has no strong track record of developing big men. Meanwhile, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting an NBA center who graduated from St. John's. Bill Wennington's still playing, right?

Definitely. But Neither Reed nor Sanogo were dominant in their first year in the program so doesn't that suggest a rebuild this season, at least at the 4 & 5 spot. It will take a special effort from our 1-3 (major steps forward for Mullins and Ross particularly but Demary as well) for us to be as good as this past year. That is a tall order but we are not done with the portal and you never know. If Mullins is BE POY then maybe.Reed was not Reed when he came here, remember? Sanogo was not the Sanogo of MOP either early on. Both of these centers are going to be worked to death in offensive and defensive situations. Their mistakes will be addressed and corrected but it will take game time experience to get to a finished product.
Trust in Hurley, trust in our coaching staff. With all these new faces it’s a tougher job every year now.
Becuase we get our information from sources that are convinced he's a great fit. Better that the guys that just go by feelz.99.5% of you never even heard of Giltay before he stepped foot on campus. Now, somehow, you all know with certainty he is a great fit who can contribute 12-15 mins. He wasn’t a great fit at Stanford, what makes you all so certain?

Don't think this is behind a paywall.
From 2 years ago
Thought the same. But scary to put something like that out here.. seriously a rough crowdI’m not an X and O guy, but he looks more like a 4 than 5, no?

I think the majority of the board thinks Giltay won’t play PF at UConn because he’s not a stretch 4. In that highlight reel he didn’t take a single shot outside the contested area and we prob also want him defending the basket with his shot blocking ability. He did show off some good mobility and handles with a couple of drives starting at the elbows. Personally I’d like him as our backup PF and get another big body to backup Hines. We will get clarity as to Giltays role based on the type of big man we bring to campus after locking down the backup CG.Thought the same. Exactly what I was thinking. 2 years or so later he's gonna be better. He's 17 in that video. Possible that he's grown? He doesn't look 6'10" there.
FIBA listed him at 6'9" back then and I belive their measurement standard is without shoes. He's 17 in that video. Possible that he's grown? He doesn't look 6'10" there.
Pretty sure the main problem was he was very much not eliteJayson Williams is an elite shooter. Ask his limo driver…

He may have grown since then. Plus added strength and conditioning, or he's a late bloomer and his athleticism/explosiveness improve in the last 2 years. He's 17 in that video. Possible that he's grown? He doesn't look 6'10" there.
I guess I need to include the alternate access.Thx but couldn't open it...any summaries?
