Oskar Giltay Commits to UConn

I have read different things about his wingspan.
One site lists it at 7'2"+
Another lists it at slightly shorter than 6'8" which would be very, very short for a 6'10"" player.
Anyone know the real deal?
Yes, 6'8" is very short if you're 6'10"

In the NBA, he's a 2. Just like Wade was a 2. Jaylen Brown is a 2. SGs in the NBA are huge. He's slightly heavier (but not fat) than Tyrese Martin, who is also a 2. That said, I suspect UConn S&C and nutrition might get him to about 225.
This has me thinking. Never thought of him like a Tyrese kind of player but after watching him pick off a fumble at midcourt he drove half a court very well and with good speed. Wow. Isn't Hurley the perfect coach to work with a willing player and take a diamond in the rough into a polished brilliant cut with a three year development program? Maybe we can even have Tyrese stop by and teach him "the look"! Good post!

Probably won’t be the popular opinion, but I just think Mullins will be closer to 35 minutes per game than 25. I don’t think he comes out unless he’s in foul trouble, ever. He’s the superstar of the team, Dan is gonna lean on him like he did Alex. Both him and Demary will be pushing 35 minutes because of what they mean to the team. I think the combo guard is gonna be someone of the Giltay talent level.
I like the 30 minute goal better than 35 because of the law of diminishing returns. You have to believe in your bench if you want it to be effective. Your shooters will lose their legs the longer they are playing extended minutes and we need them with fresh legs for the stretch.
I think Danny has commented on this about better managing the time. We are expecting our players to be very aggressive on defense, offensive glass including guards etc. I think that in a certain game this might be the case but as a rule no unless they start working out with the cross country team in the late summer and early fall. You can't be all things all the time. It's wishful thinking I guess to hope your players have the stamina of John Havlicek or Secretariat both of whom had enlarged hearts.

Much as I love Diop, If we were or are in running for Diop, means we can still afford Graves, which at this point may be better fit….

Ok I wasn’t sure how good you expect this guy to be but now you’ve confirmed you want Hurley to thread the needle. Someone bigger and better than Koroma that could be part of a 10 man rotation but would also be happy sitting on the bench.
Exactly. Depending on the opponent and other attributes such as playable injuries and other maladies to the other starters or particular defensive pressure desired. Use all your weapons. I think Husky Hawk's take above as seeing Giltay as a bigger three like Tyrese is possibly a real option. Especially if he has the desire and bb IQ that Tyrese had. If he does, I think Hurley could do wonders with him. And he has three years eligibility.

99.5% of you never even heard of Giltay before he stepped foot on campus. Now, somehow, you all know with certainty he is a great fit who can contribute 12-15 mins. He wasn’t a great fit at Stanford, what makes you all so certain?
In Hurley we trust. Don't be such a negative Nancy.

He was a freshman at Stanford. Obvious that Hurley thinks he has the raw skills and attributes to play for us. Our staff has limitless dimensions for developing [the kid who wants to give it his all. Huskyhawk pointed out what he did with Tyrese and if he has the right attitude he can be highly productive in our system.

Coaching being the deciding factor? Does Diop WANT to underachieve and crash out in the sweet 16?
This is fake news most likely as not confirmed by any reputable sources. Yes, he visited St. John’s. That’s is the confirmed extent.

On non top 50 transfers who we actually need a contribution from? Name them.
Think before you post. Others have already named a bunch.

I’ll add Tyrese Martin to the list.

Check his stats progression and contributions and get back to me.

Also, I forget if he’s played at all since leaving UConn. Could you check that and report back what you find in this thread for us?

RJ Cole added some value while in Storrs

Looks like we were in the running for Diop.

Anyone noticing how we are living rent free in their fanbases' heads these days? Only a St. John's sycophant would concoct a message that claims a recruit picked St. John's over us because of coaching.

2 National Championships and 3 championship game appearances in 4 years versus 1 Sweet 16 appearance since 1999? Oh yeah, much better coaching. LMAO!

It goes along the same lines of how winning the Big East but failing to get past the Sweet 16 yet again is somehow worth more than getting to the National Championship game. They obviously don't grow 'em very smart there in Queens. Still one of the dumbest comments I heard from any fan base during March this year.
