Oskar Giltay Commits to UConn

I've been trying to reassure myself that swapping Reibe for Giltay is a plus because how limited Reibe was late in the season and we still did well despite his limitations. But a lot of that had to do with how well Reed played down the stretch. We didn't need to lean on Reibe much. Can we expect the same from Hines? Doesn't seem realistic. But if Giltay is in fact a significant upgrade from Reibe then maybe Hines + Giltay = Reed + Reibe. But that's hard math for me to justify without more data on Giltay. We will see.

It's hard to believe that Hines will be as good as Reed was last season. Remember that Reed was a senior with a lot of experience while Hines will be a sophomore where he only played 18 mpg as a freshman. That's a big difference. Will sophomore Giltay be better than freshman Reibe? No idea.

I will say that Reibe and Karoma were very similar: Reibe better on offense, Karoma better on rebounding, but neither could guard a wheelchair...moving at 1mph. And Rrezon might have played 5 min.

While this doesn't replace Reed, Jr. on offense or defense, is does show some promise.

With our motion offense and shooters. Hines is going to have space to operate with in the paint and on PnR action..BTW- Which he rarely had at SHU in his limited PT. Give him a summer of practice in our offense/improved SnC and conditioning-And I believe you're going to see the beginnings and upside of a younger version of Tarris sooner rather than later.

That same pushot is what Tarris relied on against taller bigs that he could not bully down low. He may be relegated to that at the next level. Also Osi's game has expanded.

We shall see - would hope his game is closer to Duren. Tarris so much bigger than Osi.

Every school in the P4 bends the rules for 4 star and 5 star basketball and football players. Most those kids would never get into Duke, Michigan. Stanford, UCLA, USC, and Cal Berkley just based on their grades and SAT scores.
