Opening day (Tuesday, Nov. 5)

Notre Dame shot 33 free throws to Fordam's 2.

Tennessee wins 72-68. I did think with the new coaching staff and five new players. That there would be some struggles early on in the season. Key will be a starter before the year is out. Harper teams get better during the season.

Rennia, Brown, Key, Horston and Zaay should be the starters. Rae and Rennie (if she can start making her shots) next up. KK to spell Key when needed.

Tenn: Growing to do but a wins a win. Could not stop the ETSU guard who had 41 points. 30+ fouls was not ideal. Caused Horston and others to sit for long stretches.

however 62 rebounds is something to like as well as the freshman Key. She had 11PTS, 12 REB, 5 BLK. Lou Brown also was great and was the poise the team needed. Harpers team started 1-7 last YR. Game 1, lots it kinks to work out but at least there was effort and attitude. And no Warlick ;)
Wow, talk about putting lipstick on a pig.

I guess enjoy the honeymoon while it lasts.

I think Stanford and UCLA games starting at 7 pm PST are both available via streaming if anyone is interested in checking them out (just go to Pac 12 website).

.-.
This Missouri-Western IL game has been very entertaining. It's now going to OT.

That’s called a triple double... in her first game.
Against a team ranked outside the top 300 in Massey last year.

I'll be impressed when she triple-doubles against a team other than the Little Sisters of the Poor, the Weak and the Downtrodden.

I was just about to post about this. About as good as it gets on opening day between unranked teams.

Plus how can you not like a team called the Leathernecks?

LSU is now 11-25 from the free throw line. I pray this changes
That left me with a bad taste. 83 points with
18 missed free throws. Great performance by Tiara. Her confidence should go up after that. The team look very different and was aggressive getting the ball to the paint.

Did you really think it was gonna be a quick fix to correct all the bad Holly instilled in them?? ‍♂️

Kind of a slow start for Stanford, but Belibi and Jones checked in and gave them a quick boost. 10-3 at the first media TO.

I watched the Arizona game thru 3 quarters, Cats were up 20+. I think their whole freshman class is international players. One in particular, Helena Pueyo from Spain, looked good. Nice feel for the game, stat sheet stuffer, hit a couple 3's. I'll be interested to see more of her.

I have watched the first three minutes of the USC(west coast) vs CSUN game and will state that USC will have the worst team in the Pac 12, and I havent seen all of the teams yet.

South Carolina 103 Bama State 43 Final

Boston 12 pts, 12 rebs, 10 blks, 3 stl, 1 ast 0 TO in 21 minutes. What a debut.

Whole roster scored, including 17 combined from the last two players off the bench in Walk-on Thompson (10) and Wesolek (7).

Broke school scoring record at 103.

Really looking forward to seeing how the Maryland game goes. That will be a good measuring stick.
I don't think 103 is a record, by far.

Did you watch?
No I didn’t, but it’s only so much a player can do talent wise. I’ve seen three years worth. Harris & HH are both players that would have to rely on hard work because they don’t necessarily have the best talent in my honest opinion. Harris’ best year was her freshman year, I haven’t seen any growth since.

 How can you say that without seeing Cal or Colorado first? Or either of the Washington schools? As good as the top to middle of the conference should be, there are definitely some bottom feeders.

Stanford might have a bit of a hangover after the game against the National team. Leading Eastern Washington 18-10 after 1Q, not looking real sharp. Lexie Hull leading the way w/ 8 points.

That's what tv said. Granted it would be the least shocking thing ever if they were wrong no offense to them.
I looked it up; 137 is our scoring record. Maybe 103 was the record for a first game.

UCLA on the other hand is up 25-5 against Weber St. nearing the end of Q1.

Did you watch?
& also from the stats of the exhibition and first game, it looks like the freshmen will more relied upon which is a good thing because they have the talent, especially Cooke.

Just got back from watching A&M demolish UALR. Trojans took an early lead to start the game but the Ags stepped up the D and Cierra Johnson was unstoppable. Everyone played by halftime. Johnson had a double double 24 pts 13 rebounds. Carter had 14 points and 6 assists.

Now Team USA Thursday and Duke Sunday. Asst Coach Bob Starkey is having dinner with Augustus and Fowles while they are here.

Stanford waking up, now leading 29-13. Prechtel looks good. Probably the best thing the Cardinal have going for them is depth, they don't lose anything when they go to the bench (might get better actually). On the last dead ball Jones, Belibi and Lexie Hull all checked in, none of whom started.

38-15 Stanford at halftime. I know they have plenty of veterans, but between the 4 Fr. and the 2 Hulls (sophs) there appears to be a youth movement going on. EWU is just chucking 3's and not hitting anything.

They look bad. They are up by 10 midway in 2nd and they have hit 11 FT's and CSUN hasnt taken one FT. They have no pg and the bigs look slow. CSUN has 13 points off turnovers and USC has 3. USC has 9 turnovers to CSUN's 3.
I dont think CSUN is that good, as I have seen them with better teams in the past.

I've seen a lot of 3's taken from behind the men's line tonight. Are players confused? Most of the shots from the longer distance have been missed.

South Florida opened the season with a 70 - 39 victory over Jacksonville. Jacksonville is not that talented a team.

Jose has a different look team this season. Laksa and Ferriera are gone as are two freshman from last year's team. As usual, Jose has a team loaded with European players. Only 4 of his 13 players are American. 5 players are freshman.

I was surprised at the starting lineup. Beatrice Jordeo, last season's starting post player, who was lost for the season with a leg injury, didn't start. Sydni Harvey is injured and didn't play.

Players to watch:
Enna Pehadzic, 5' 9" junior guard (Norway) - led all scorers with 20
Maria Alvarez (Florida), 5' 7" freshman guard - 11 points, 5 assists
Bethy Mununga (Belgium), 6' junior forward (JUCO transfer) - 11 points, 12 rebounds
Kristyna Brabencova (Czech Republic), 6' 2" forward - 5 rebounds, 2 blocks.

Jordeo only played 9 minutes which was interesting.
