Fair to say Omar hit his Sophomore Slump this year down 8 PPG from last year, seemed as if every time he stepped on the floor he turned the ball over or made a mistake. Despite that I personally still see Calhoun sticking around next year, tough kid from New York who can do a lot for us if he can find his confidence and is willing to put in the work to pass the guys in front of him right now which may include Samuel, Purvis, and Daniel Hamilton. Thoughts?

Not to open up a can of worms, but the fact that Ollie didn't give up and bench him in early February like many here wanted him to is the biggest reason he's not going anywhere. Now, once we made the tournament and Calhoun hadn't shown any improvement, it was clear he wasn't going to see much court time. But Ollie didn't give up on him as a player, and as a result, I know Omar's gonna be a big piece here the next two years.

I hope he will train hard and come back next year. He stuck with UCONN when some bailed and we should stick with him going forward. I think he is a great team guy and he will prove himself again. I just don't believe someone can lose their skill sets overnight. He played well once and he will do so again.

We know he can do it, we have seen it on the floor. I can't imagine any real Uconn fans not rooting and hoping he can be the player we know he can be.

It is a good thing we didn't put any of these thoughts in the other thread about Omar.

Like almost everyone on here, I'm rooting for Omar big time. Seems like a really good kid and a solid teammate who never bailed on the program. Come on Omar - knock em dead next year!!

4 guards next year vying for limited amount of minutes. Boat will definitely get the majority of the minutes at point. TSam proved what he was capable of in his freshman season. We will just have to see what purv and omar can do next season.

After the drubbing the kid took throughout the year on here, we can't have enough positive threads about the kid.

He is a Husky and I believe he will be better next year and be a huge contributor on this team.

Please....I am begging each and every one of you....

DO NOT, now or in the future, use that shortened form to refer to Rodney Purvis....

(That's the kind of nickname that might stick with a guy....)

Omar can certainly help fill the roles Kromah and Giffey had this year.

He needs to work on his handle and fix his shot. I don' t think it's past time where he can fix his jumper; he needs to stop shooting it on the way up. Whether he improves or not, I'll always appreciate the years he gave us, and the fact he also could have bailed with the CR crap, pending NCAA ban, and then when Calhoun retired. If he doesn't earn the minutes, so be it, but I'm glad he's going to put in more work and try and come back better.

I have to ask this question (and I am quite confident that Omar is smart enough to have asked himself this same question):

Where else will Omar find a better opportunity to learn, to develop as a player and to showcase his talents than here, at UConn, under Kevin Ollie?

LOL sorry I figured that was already his nickname. Saw it being used before so I went with it.

I compared Omar to Harris from MSU at the start of the year, looking at their freshman years that didn't seem crazy...

And I still don't think it is. Omar has the potential to be GREAT.

Hard to say anything negative about a kid who is that dedicated to UConn.

A kid from Brooklyn is tuff. My wife is from B, and if I don't say this. I'm toast. So, Omar, do you hear this????
