. . . and just days after smoking Jokic and Serbia
South Sudan roster is full of former US college players and they made a ton of crazy shots
US plays them in the actual first round - no way they shoot like that again
US will win by 25+

Worried about the US taking gold.

Watching that Redeem team doc those guys were locked in and Coach K was a great motivator with 10x the talent of this team. And it still took a heroic last stretch against Spain to win.

Between Kerr, the age of these guys who’ve hardly played together, and how much better the world is. Things may be shaky.

They had Kobe. He set the tone and demanded they win

No shirt it’s not the 70s but it would be more enjoyable watching those kids try harder to beat them. Only issue these days is your best college players leave too early to grab the bag in the NBA so it’s not the same in that regard.
Wouldn't be anything enjoyable about seeing college kids get blown out, if it was that obvious to you that it ain't the 70s then you would understand it wouldn't be close against these other countries senior national teams. Lol @ thinking college kids could compete with Jokic for Serbia, a Gobert/Wemby frontcourt France frontcourt, or dealing with Giannis and Greece. They would get toyed with.

It is amazing how well LeBron moves at his age. This is unlike anything we have ever seen. Jabbar played forever but by 39 he was not nearly moving like an elite athlete. Brady played forever and was able to avoid getting injured by huge, fast and strong young men. But not because of athletic ability. James is just amazing the way he moves, how quickly he elevates, I mean he could play another three four years easy IMO.

As for the game. The team showed indifference…..did not play defense and ran into a team that was making all their shots. They would have been blown out by any of five teams that will be in the Olympics. Even with better effort do not see this team winning gold. It will be an accomplishment just to get to the medal round.

It is even hard to call this group a team. There are too many agendas to keep track of with all the drama starting with Brown and White situation.

I would not have even watched was just passing time waiting for the Stars of Storrs game to start.

They're still the prohibitive favorite to win gold. There's a ton of talent on the team compared to the rest of the world. But they'll need to take the games more seriously than they did against South Sudan. I'm sure they will.

Who are the other teams that you think have a better chance to win medals?

I understand they will be prohibitive favorites which is part of the reason I think they will get beat. They will walk into the gym with the completely wrong attitude and a team will jump them to start the game. There is a history of this and that is what happened yesterday.

I understand the talent level with AD, Ant, Tatum, Durant, Curry, LeBron et al is not comparable. But with one open position they bring in White. To me that was a tell on what management thinks about this team. They were not looking for more talent they just wanted less drama, availability and effort. Hoping maybe it will rub off on the team.

As for the teams that could bet them:

Serbia because when it matters Joker will make everyone on that team better when they are on the court with him.

France who knows maybe this is where Wemby controls every aspect of a game or two but as currently constructed if a team plays defense against them they may have trouble scoring.

Canada has a very good roster with SGA and he could go off. Barrett nice complimentary piece and they will bring effort and Barrett always plays with a chip on his shoulder and has gotten better since leaving New York and that pressure. And they have ten nba player on their roster.

Greece is the Freak playing? If so he is also capable of making everyone else on the floor better when they are playing with him.

Australia has seven nba players on their roster. There history against us sucks but maybe they are due.

But I am not basing my opinion on any of the other teams. I am basing it on what I see or don’t see when I watch this group of great players play a basketball game. Now maybe everything picks up a notch when the games start, but let’s say AD gets hurt which you know has been known to happen….and they lose an early game. Can they deal with the conflict and let’s be honest the rest of the world rooting against them…without fracturing.

Agreed.
The fact that he has stayed relatively healthy his entire career, along with coming straight out of high school, I find it hard for anyone to replicate is durability for generations.

Anthony Davis is so much better as the USA 5 over Embiid that it's not even close

Anthony Davis is so good when he doesn’t have to worry about carrying a team.

He doesn’t need the ball to be great. Embiid does.

Kerr still sticking with this starting lineup even tho it's been poor throughout the friendlies. KD will replace either Booker or Jrue but I still don't think Embiid is the right choice at the 5

I don't see him playing much, he had a pretty good role in the last Eurobasket in 2022 but he was already being phased out in the World Cup that took place last year.

Too much one on one from USA. Not looking great. They need Hurley as coach to teach them how to play as a team.

End of 3rd Q, USA down by 3 to Germany.
