Nah instead just keep referring to vague things that happened in the past on the board repeatedly smearing Calhoun each and every time. That's what a real fan would do am I right?

Tell you what, PM me what you think is worse since you are suddenly so concerned about the reputation of a coach and program you've been repeatedly smearing. (Here's a hint, there isn't anything. But you realize that now don't you?)

What is vague about the Miles case? Are people here really unaware about what brought UConn to probation in 2012?

REALLY??!?!

So what did Jim Calhoun do in the Miles case? Specifics professor, specifics.

They used Nochimson to recruit Miles, and then babysit Miles. Tom Moore flat out said this was happening, and it happened. Nochimson was bankrolling Miles during this period. But in the first place, Moore is the one who told Nochimson to develop a relationship with Miles so that he'd enroll at UConn. They knew Nochimson was considered an illegal booster & an agent, but they went through with it anyway. They reported it once they understood that Nochimson paid for Miles, and at that point they advised Miles to break it off with him.

Miles said Calhoun raised the subject of Nochimson with him only once, a few weeks after arriving at Connecticut and after Miles had received thousands of dollars worth of extra benefits. “He told me, like, he didn’t want me dealing with him anymore,” Miles said.
When asked if Calhoun was aware that Nochimson provided cash, clothes and food, and had paid for toe surgery for Miles, Miles said, “He knew.”
Connecticut officials rebutted that account in a statement Friday: “Coach Calhoun denies any claim that he knew that Nate Miles was receiving impermissible benefits. Moreover, Mr. Miles submitted a signed statement to the N.C.A.A. last year that contradicts his current story. Coach Calhoun cooperated fully with the N.C.A.A.’s investigation and considers this matter closed.”

Don't do this. You're going to take nate miles story or Calhoun's?

They are and if their contract is written the way Ollie's is and they suck they can be fired for cause. If you're going to cheat don't suck. Don't know why you're bringing up K, Roy, Self etc.

You're making my exact point!! How many times do I have to say he was fired because he did not coach well and they didn't want to pay him! If he was coaching well, they wouldn't have fired him, they would have paid him, even if they found out he sent players to train with some guy in Georgia!
[/QUOTE]
Geezus, everyone knows he was fired because he sucks and he's not getting money because he broke the conditions of his contract. Again, why the hell are you bringing up Roy, Self, K etc.?

You seriously think people don't know Ollie wouldn't have been fired if he was doing well?

There is really nothing out of the ordinary in this situation except for Ollie demanding every penny and going all scorched earth, saying he was treated differently because he's black.

I'm quoting Tom Moore.

Holy cow--have you even read this thread?

It doesn't matter what other coaches/schools do....neither of them is party to THIS contract

Oh my lord.

Then why in the world were you responding to a guy talking about other coaches' contracts??!?!??!?!

Jeez, if you're going to make a point about other coaches' contracts then why would you then say, those don't matter??!

Where did he say this?

In the newspapers and directly to the NCAA.

What you posted about Miles totally contradicts what I wrote. I wrote that they reported on Miles to the NCAA years before the thing blew up, and that Miles was told specifically not to have contact with Nochimson anymore. This was proven by the certified letter that UConn and Calhoun sent to the NCAA years before the investigation. But that doesn't change the fact that Moore specifically was the one who told Nochimson (a booster) to recruit Miles for UConn.

They paid him $8m of $12m owed.

Actually, that is incorrect. They paid him 7.5 out of nearly 13 owed. Which is what I said above

They did not pay him the full amount...they saved 5 million.and the allegations weren't as severe as Ollie is facing..no NCAA wrongdoing.

..so they saved nearly 5.5...and he didn't do anything wrong!

We have a lot of strange posters but there isn't a single poster who is wondering why Ollie was fired and why he isn't getting paid.

Nope. No allegation that UConn willfully "used" Nochimson to "pay Miles." No allegation that UConn used Nochismson to pay for a recruits surgery. Yes UConn told Miles to stay away for Nochimson.

Why would make up crap against a program that you supposedly are a fan of?

The Boneyard Firm LLC remains unmatched in legal acumen. You think Ollie's trying to make money suing a guy making $200k / year?
Is Miller even making that much as a DIII assistant?

What? I sent you an article with Miles quote, it's directly in contradiction to what you wrote either because you misquoted or made it up..

Why would you make up crap about my post? Didn't say any of that.

Are you totally unaware of the Miles case?

The Miles quote you sent was a total contradiction of what I wrote earlier.

I wrote that Moore told Nochimson to recruit Miles for UConn, which is illegal and a major penalty. I wrote that they did this years before Miles got to campus. I wrote that they reported it once they learned Nochimson was paying cash for Miles (of course, UConn texted Nochimson thousands of times in the ensuing period, and especially in the last week before Miles committed). I wrote that they told Miles way back when to cut it off with Nochimson.

This is totally the opposite of the quote you gave me from Miles in which he stated Calhoun told him not to contact Nochimson once Miles got to campus.

I mean, it is the complete opposite of what I wrote.

I think you have a reading comprehension/retention issue...YOU brought up other coaches!! Not me..

If you think coaches aren't violating their contract 99.9% of every second of every day, you're not paying attention.

My point was that it doesn't matter what other coaches do...they didn't sign THIS contract...

Actually, I got you confused with Engineer.

My original post on the contracts was in response to Engineer.

This is the point that was being responded to:
the vast majority of coaches that get fired are at least trying to do their job AND not violating their contracts

So the whole string was about other coaches and contracts.

Why would you make up crap about my post? Didn't say any of that.

Editing your post to remove the surgery reference? Really? Sad.

I wrote that Moore told Nochimson to recruit Miles for UConn, which is illegal and a major penalty.
This never happened. If you think this "major penalty" occurred, perhaps you could tell me what the sanction that Moore received for it?

Stop digging, Upstater, the hole you are in is deep enough.

So, you're saying, they fired him because he sucked, but they also didn't pay him because they had cause?

If that's what you're saying, I agree. But we're talking legalities in this thread. It's pretty tricky to say, "we're not paying you for cause," when you're really not paying him for performance.
