2026 Recruiting: Olivia Vukosa

You're probably right. Not familiar with EJ to know if he's just a fan like us or actually has inside sources. Don't recall him ever making many predictions in the past, let alone this new "crystal ball" type forecast.
In all seriousness, "EJ's" crystal ball is likely a guess based on the perceived momentum created by the OV more than any insider knowledge.

I like our chances of getting Vukosa. I also like the fact that UConn is the only school she made multiple Instagram posts for including pictures from her official visit. I’m just hoping there’s not a reason why South Carolina is seemingly the last visit…

I haven't heard a peep on the South Carolina side, so I highly doubt she is seriously considering us. Also, It would be odd to have two traditional posts in the same recruiting class but stranger things have happened. My assumption is that she is taking a look just because she can.

Im trying to take that as a positive as well, but Lara Somfai was liking UConn posts pretty much a couple days leading up to her decision.
Rings R Us- - -Remember all the chatter about Sarah Strong going to NoCar then choose UConn which was her first choice all the recruiting period!

I have no idea how OSU could even be in the mix. Maybe her father likes their football team or something so she took him for the visit.

Perhaps proximity. The three SEC schools aren't exactly within driving distance.

And, from an NIL perspective, I'm guessing OSU forked over quite a bit to land Jalon Cambridge a couple of years ago.

Maybe this is just a southwestern thing, and I share it with you, but ‘driving distance’ on the east coast doesn’t usually include drives above 2 hours. Sure, you wouldn’t ordinarily fly from NYC to Storrs, but that’s still a heckuva drive from Brooklyn, at least by NYC standards. Ohio is an even longer drive at over 8 hours. Of course, the drive to Texas would have to be measured in days, so by comparison even Ohio looks an easy distance.

As a native NYer, and having worked in the city but living in Westchester and Connecticut, a two-hour drive can be (sadly) a too -frequent occurrence simply due to traffic. Like when I visit my mom driving from Connecticut to Long Island. We might not like it but we tolerate it/are used to it. From Brooklyn it's under three hours.

With Olivia having younger sisters I'd give those kids the incentive to tolerate the drive by rewarding them with a trip to the Dairy Bar when they arrive on campus lol!

Yeah, proximity is probably a major factor for a close knit family. It's only 3.5 hrs by car from Queens, NY to Storrs.

Drive time From Queens
to Storrs, CT
to Columbus OH 13 hrs
to Columbia SC 13 hrs
to Baton Rouge, LA 20.5 hrs
to Austin, TX 26 hrs.

UConn is the only school among her interests that provides the opportunity for a one day, there and back family drive plus a game in one day. (or a Friday drive home for her and back on Sunday - though she probably has a bunch of FF miles)

LOL.

Well, as someone who has lived in several different parts of Texas, it could take someone like 12-18 hours driving just to cross the state borders depending on where you live.

For many reasons I like UConn signing the Big O. No official announcement when she will commit. It has been said its between UConn and Texas. She has been to UConn several times and is friends with Nika Muhl. She plays for CTK and the connection between CTK and UConn is very very strong. So we wait and see.

I'm guessing the visit happens. Seems like both parents and all siblings have accompanied her to Ohio State, Texas, and LSU where they had to pay airfare out of their own pocket; so, most likely they've already paid for airfare to South Carolina for all family members, so might as well make the trip and get their money's worth.
Why not take the visits? You get to experience a different program, see new places, meet other players and are generally treated very well.

Is Olivia following any Texas staff or players on social media?

As far as I can tell from Instagram, she follows all but 4 Texas players and several from the Texas staff. She follows all UConn players except for Gandy, Ice, Caroline, and Ayanna. And then she follows Geno and Morgan Valley from the coaching staff.

Update: Big O no longer follows the Texas team account and recently followed Gandy and the account of the UConnWBB managers.
It would be funny if one of these players randomly followed and unfollowed different players and coaches every day.

Olivia still hasn't been on an official visit to South Carolina, right?

Perhaps she canceled it after the UConn visit? 😁
The is no word from our end though this would be a good weekend for a visit. Low/no pressure Home exhibition game on Friday night and homecoming on Saturday. Full day drive both ways if the whole fam comes

Whoo knows though? There’s a month until she has to decide in the early period and the whole season to decide in the late period.

Ditto this for Jerzey. Though travel costs/time for fam may be less.
