Texas isn't going anywhere. The B12 will expand, the question is, who will they get? They may have to settle.
Oh I think that is the most likely scenario, too. I think that the 2 schools the Big really wants, Texas and Notre Dame, are probably the only two that wouldn't crawl over hot coals to get into the Big. In that sense, the Big might end up "settling" as well. It just will settle at a higher level.

Since it's settled that Texas wants to dominate their own conference, the Big 12, the B1G, the SEC and the Pac-12 are the future. Let's really hope the SEC wins over UNC and UVA. The fact the VT and NC State are aiming for the Big 12 seems to indicate UNC and UVA leans towards the SEC. I don't blame them one bit.

Can't believe UNC and UVA want to be in the SEC. These are two of the ACC schools that actually care about academics.

UNC's fans don't want to go to the B1G. And the academics of the schools in the SEC are either excellent or getting better.

That is the completely uncompetitive thing:

These conferences (due to decades of affinity) are unlikely to boot Wake or Vandy or Washington State. Just not going to happen. Meanwhile, there is a HARD STEEP WALL they have built to keep new entrants out. (UConn ... Boise ... the new fast-growing Florida or California or Sunbelt schools) This is now huge business; I just don't see how this can continue down this path. We (the leftover BE) went to litigation; and I suspect no one really wants to go there again. But, when a Black & White decision means $45 million or $4m, I simply think something extra-legal is coming. The Gee type characters, imo, are a step from smarmy Graham Spanier. Seemly stuff.

The best case scenario for UConn is that somebody panics.

We just need one team in the ACC to get nervous and start to worry about their seat at the big boy table. Or one conference to think that maybe someone else will get the jump.

It's like World War I - we need someone to shoot the Archduke.

I can't think of one ACC school that would choose the Big 12 over the Big 10. The only school on the planet that seems to make that choice is Texas.

That's the conventional widsom, that the Big 10 would be the first choice for any ACC school. But if Texas is so valuable, why not join their conference? If being in the south is valuable to the Big 10, being in the south would also be valuable to other southern conferences. Why not join with other southern powers?

The B1G is being so exaggerated. Besides Missouri, do you think any SEC school would leave for the B1G? Again, UNC's fans prefer the SEC by far.

or one of the B1G, SEC, ACC or Big12 Commisioners to have the big one.

The fans don't run the place. The B1G needs a footprint in the south. That's their shortcoming.

Oh please.
Apart from the Mississippi schools, Arkansas and South Carolina, the SEC schools are not much worse or barely worse than what's in the B1G. Yeah, oh please.

True.

Excellent = Vanderbilt
Getting Better (improving from C level to C+ level) = the other 13 schools

I know this. You can compare this to the Civil War. Certainly easier said than done. Any wise administration would go along with demographics. And demographics don't favor the B1G, at all.

Florida, Vandy and ............. are good. Excuse me if I forgot one.
UGA is aiming for the AAU. I mentioned other schools as well. Not going to repeat myself.

Wrong. Hard to believe how biased northerners are towards the south. Now you wonder why UNC fans prefer the SEC?

O ... I knew we were going to get to this point. As passionate as many can get with Conference Realignment & College Sports (in general), it's not hard to imagine a character stalking John Swofford in Greensboro ... or a Chicago massacre of Delaney on Valentine's Day.

Florida has some departments that are very good. But the entirety of UNC is fantastic. They are not even close to being in the same league academically.

I think much of the B1g is overrated academically. But on balance it is far better than the SEC.

Simply not true.

I agree with the former statement. In Academics, it's Vandy ... maybe Florida ... sometimes Georgia ... and never ever ever most all the rest. The B1G, justifiably, has solid schools pretty much across the board (at Florida level or better).

And let's not forget what big time sports have done for UConn. It's not as if SEC schools can't further improve. I could easily imagine they will want to now.

So apart from 45% of the conference or so, the rest of the conference is just a little worse than the B1g save Vandy.

Time to put down your hashpipe.
