That doesn't make it the right thing to do. I mean the last thing I want is to be like uk

What's "wrong" about it.. you recruit as long as you have available scholarships.. we did and we did

Some more updates on Turtle:

“A couple of weeks ago, he opened things back up,” Athens Christian coach Ron Link told the AJC. “He called me today and said that he committed to UGA today. I said ‘Great. I get to see you play more often rather than just on TV.’”

...

“Here’s a guess: When you win a national championship, you get about anybody you want,” Link said. “So UConn might’ve gotten a point guard just as good or better. Turtle keeps up with everything going on in recruiting.

“But he might’ve just had a change of heart, and just wanted to go to Georgia because all of his friends told him they want to be able to see him play in person. As long as he’s happy, that’s the most important thing. He’s the one who is going to be at college for four years, not all of his friends.”

The problem with these southern kids is that when they think of ten toes in, they are worried about frost bite.

you never know the composition of a given team until the first live practice; hence today's recruiting strategies of yes no maybe maybe not next week week after ad infinitum/loyalty is not the key word

.-.
It's a win win for both sides. He wants to play and the dogs need backcourt depth. We certainly don't. He's a good kid and I hope he does well.

Lyou have to
I hope this was mutual because I hate the idea of spreading a wide net offering every top 100 kid and when another recruit shows interest in committing or a reluctance to commit based on who's already committed who may be better than the one/ones we've already had commit we shove the commit out the door or stop communicating with the commit.[/QUOTE

You have to have a wide net . Or when you don't get your kid you will be late to the table for your next target.

Best for both sides. Let's go land Stone/Newman and Enoch/Smith.

.-.
He wasn't even top 100, we should only be involved with top 75 players.

In the words of the great Jim Calhoun:
"You're not really that stupid are you?... My best advice to you: Shut up"

There's a reason your post/like ratio is among the worst on this site. Terrible, terrible poster.

"lets see how many times I can say the word "commit" in one sentence and still almost make sense.."

Well, I agree with that, but I don't consider that recruiting over a kid. Maybe it's just a misunderstanding in wording but to me recruiting over a kid is actively pushing lower rated recruits out for higher rated ones. I by no means meant we shouldn't recruit the best players as long as we have spots open.

I too wish him all the luck. It's very likely he's still recovering and having to compete with a whole slew of talented guards if not a 100% might pose an uphill battle for him. Makes sense for all parties concerned to look for an opportunity better suited for him. I would have welcomed him into the family with open arms if he decided to stick it out here. Again, I wish him well and hope he turns out to be an outstanding player.

best of luck unless UGA finds themselves in the NCAAs playing UCONN.

... in which case I hope we roll over Turtle like an 18-wheeler on the Georgia Interstate.

My biggest disappointment is robbing us of the Courant headline next season, "Turtle Heading: Freshman guard flushes Huskies past {insert any school name here}."

If you could only get rid of wives this easily..
Who says you cant? Try bringing home another one with a better T to A ratio and see if the original commit hangs around.

Calling this thread night and day versus the original Ali thread would be an epic understatement.

Personally, I don't think the quotes prove the switch was mutual, but I sincerely hope it was. Good luck Turtle.

Alabama football and UK hoops recruit over kids and so do other top programs.

I don't think Shabazz was in the top 75 on most lists. How did that work out for UConn?

I believe it's because he reclassified, otherwise he would've been a top 50 recruit for his class.

I think it's funny no ones bothered by the fact that this guy continued recruiting turtle after he committed
Yeah, was thinking it was mighty Enfield of him, but I also think its pretty typical of many/most programs out there. Not something I really care or want to think about very much. Recruiting business sucks IMO.

I understand that this has been in the works underwraps a few weeks or so, but is it common for a kid to announce decommitment and commitment at the same time? Seems fishy. I'm sure it'd be a lot bigger deal to us if the kid hadn't been slipping and we didn't just wrap up Jalen with other bigger options out there. Imagine two consecutive decommits without a big commit in between?

In my post above, his coach says Turtle opened things up a couple of weeks ago, which makes sense since Moore said a few days ago that Turtle had already recommitted.

In regards to Fox calling Turtle while he was committed to UConn, it pretty much happens all the time with verbal commits. Even UConn does it. When a player signs an LOI and other schools keep recruiting him, that's when it crosses the line.

Are we really nitpicking on the proper was to decommit? That's almost as bad as 3 giving us updates every time Adams wipes his ass
