Official Obliterate the Orange Game Thread

Will you continue to post tonight when we make this a game? Or will you disappear?

You think we’ll make this a game? Unless Jalen goes unconscious I see no shot. Secondly, I’ll absolutly be here. Doesn’t change the fact that Ollie is not ready to coach at the major D1 level

The score is not as bad as it looks.
We HAVE to come out with the first punch here in the last 2nd half or else we are donezo.

When is the last time we delivered the first punch in any context?

People at even higher levels of DB are concerned with keeping their jobs. Listen, I am not saying that I don't engage in the same wishful thinking I ascribe to you but I don't see it.
Ok I think KO will see the writing on the wall for himself and the school and will work out something amicable. I'm sure it won't be super cheap but it will allow the two of us to part ways.

Great backcourt/wing rotation? We have Adams and Larrier and neither is great. The other 3 aren't even mediocre at this level.

Thats my point. Weren't you higher on Adams than anyone? Larrier is limited. People on the board were outraged that UCONN wasn't being listed as a top 10 backcourt in the country in the preseason and the reality is that the talent is more limited than expected.

I feel like we relate to the directv commercial way too much. Some people just like wet grocery bags, some people just love spilling hot coffee on themselves, some people just keep expecting UConn to play to a level above their talent...

Anyone who didn't think that with the roster we had coming into this season that we wouldn't struggle to start the year doesn't know basketball. Grad transfers, jucos, freshmen bigs, 3 players back from injury. And we are playing tonight without our PG.
who assembled that roster?

You think it's going to get better?

The refs are worth 6-8 points of the current deficit. Easily. They are not even trying to keep it fair. It’s ACC against garbage in their view, and ESPNs.
I wouldn’t point to the Ref’s, point to the turnovers, we limit the turnovers and we are back in this game. Something we can control

I like Jalen but he is the whole team right now. Nobody is helping him out and that is a problem when we play talented teams.

They could because Syracuse is really bad but most likely not.

We need players.

Remember when we were afraid NBA teams like the Lakers would lure KO away from us?

Guess that's off the table now.
seemed like nothing more than a ploy from his agent at this point.

Yeah I mean - to me this is just kind of the total writing on the wall game. Rivalry games have a way of doing that.

Recruiting isn't good because what gets here isn't very good. What gets here that is good isn't made much better, if at all. Yep, it's the talent. Yep, it's the energy. Yep, it's the coaching.

I mean jeez this team looked so jacked up for tonight. And in like 3 minutes you could see every kid on that court just with the look of 'we shouldn't be here, should we...' It's hard for Ollie to keep kids up for a pounding like this where super long dudes are just dunking and rebounding over you at will.

Where it comes back on Ollie... I mean dude how many times are they going to Larrier in the paint and having it not work? Why were Diarra, Cobb and Larrier not playing together? Why can't Diarra be on the court the same time as Cobb? Why is Polley even playing more than 3-4 minutes a game at this point? Why are content to work the zone instead of getting out ahead of it? Every wrong adjustment they can make they make. Every redundantly bad thing they can do, they do. They don't seem prepared for Syracuse, they don't seem to have more than 2 or 3 things in the playbook...

It's just a mess.

No about Adams, you're probably thinking of Matrim. Some people were saying we would have the best backcourt.

Adams should be better than he is, he hasn't progressed like he should have.

If anything, Mama is a beast. I like him. Shouldn't put the ball on the floor down underneith though

And it worked. Our idiot winner who likes winning and her rockstar fell for it and boned the program.

Both are bad. But we had a few Phantom travel calls when we were fouled.

KO shouldn't have to play defense on the sideline for us to play defense hard. The players need to step up and answer the call.
