I find it interesting that Uconn was the only official visit she was on that other recruits and team members weren't tagging her in pics on her visit. Maybe because we realize there is no need to beg for her services because she is going to be a Husky. :)

In all seriousness I still think she will be a Husky. I think it will be between us and Duke, I don't think she is going out west. Looking forward to whenever her announcement will be!

Patterson didn't publicly post any photos and Brady just posted one with (I'm assuming) either her dad or her grandpa. Know that in Instagram you can curate a "close friends" list that will allow you to share things to your story without the general public seeing it. I'm pretty certain a lot of our athletes use that as a way to keep things semi-private. Honestly, Patterson and Brady don't post much of their own stuff at all.

Since Kiki's just sharing what others have posted (and our two commits didn't really post anything), I wouldn't read too much into it.

I think she is Duke bound. I feel that UConn recruits usually commit after their visit. If she truly is unsure than that is why you take the Duke visit. If she already wanted UConn , than I don’t think she would have gone on the Duke visit. Could be totally wrong but my thinking would have been Thank you to Duke for the invite but my mind is made up. I would be totally uncomfortable wasting everyone at Duke’s time if I already had made up my mind. Which by the way, I guarantee you, she knows where she is going.

Uconn hasn't had a recruit commit after a visit in a long time. Most of our recruits commit well after the visit or during early signing day.

Or, they commit to Geno privately, but avoid making it public until later. However, I don't think that has happened in this case; otherwise, I agree that she wouldn't be visiting Duke. But I don't think we have any clue as to how she is leaning.

Nobody really knows if she has in fact made a decision. You could say the same about UConn. Why waste their time coming to First Night. I believe she is honoring her commitment to visit Duke. They are both on her final list. Let’s hope it’s UConn. Go Huskies!!!

The last UConn recruit who committed immediately after their recruiting visit was De’Janae Boykin, who unfortunately struggled to adjust to UConn, never played a minute and transferred to Penn St during her freshman year.

There were two other recruits on that same recruiting weekend with Boykin who both took much longer to make their decisions. You may have heard of them: Lou & Pheesa, who were both 3-time AA’s at UConn.

Not exactly. Napheesa was first to commit during her visit. Boykin committed a couple of weeks later and Lou a couple of weeks after that. One in April, 2 in May.

I want Kiki in a Husky uni, that said like all poi and possible recruits she should go where she feels the school is undeniably calling her. We know she is the right fit for UCONN, are the Husky's the right fit for her.

I stand corrected

Perhaps more relevant was the fact that Lou, a CA kid, with two older sisters at Stanford, defied the naysayers on the BY by matriculating to UConn.

How can you truthfully guarantee that?

I understand the excitement in getting the best players to commit. But at the same time, I don't care if we lose out on some or many or whatever. If they don't want to come, then we usually get a comparable player. I agree that our chances of landing Kiki are diminished given her visit to Duke. At the same time, I'm not bothered if she goes there. We already have enough good/great players to win multiple championships over the next 4 years. Geno has the players, he just needs to outcoach the opposing coach. With a couple exceptions, it is pretty much the same thing the last few decades.

One comment on KiKi Rice. Everything she’s done to date with regard to her college choice has been systematic and deliberate. She hasn’t rushed her decision or plastered social media with accounts of her visits. She’s involved her parents in the process that clearly appears designed to gather as much information as possible before making a final decision.

If you take all 5 “official” visits, there are only so many weekends in the fall you can do that on, particularly if your parents accompany you. She and her parents came to UConn for 1st Night, the weekend clearly designated to celebrate basketball at UConn.

I continue to feel very good about UConn’s chances of landing Rice. One thing is for sure. Whatever decision she makes, it will be based on a thorough and complete evaluation of every school on her final list.

The “Toomanator” being encouraged by Wyoming area fans to pick UConn. On Instagram.

Just to supply more information good or bad, meaningful or not
Kiki is attending Duke practice at Cameron per her IG story. The origin of the post is Kiki and not a teammate

UGA is right on SC’s heels. It may not be long before they become top Dawg in the SEC…. ;)
Um, with all apologies to my esteemed colleague, this is a nice “get” for Joni but NO they are not right on SC heels. In fact, I need to see this program replicate what they did last year AND advance well into the NCAAT AND beat Tenn with any regularity before I can say they are legit. Just my humble opinion….

It would be nice to have Paige, Azzi and Kiki on the perimeter for years to come.
I think sometimes we can get hung up on the listed position for a prospect. Some may consider Kiki very unlikely because she is described as a point guard, and we have a generational talent there in Paige and a very good backup in Nika. So how about SG? Oops another generational talent there in Azzi. So where could Kiki possibly start? The answer is SF, and even there she would likely need to beat out Caroline.

Based on the 3 on 3 competition and film on her, I see Kiki more like a Momma E versatile multi-skilled player. She showed the ability to board in the 3 on 3, and at 5-11 I think would be fine at the 3. So realistically she has some chance to start, but at SF, and has pretty serious competition there from Caroline and others.

If that doesn't happen there is still a potential significant role as the main backup at two positions, behind Azzi at SG and Caroline or someone else at SF. Yes she could also backup at PG but I think that would probably only come into play if Paige or Nika was unavailable, although it is possible she could pass Nika as the main backup option there.

So is that enough for her? I don't know. A legitimate chance to start at SF, but far from certain, but a very high probability of a pertinent role of backing up two positions as the floor. E is a very good analogy for her. She played point guard at Tennessee, came to Uconn and showed her versatility in other ways, clearly being comfortable at three positions, and even played some 4 although I don't think that is a good idea for E or Kiki with the bigs we have now and on the way.

The only problem I see with this team is team speed. Last year I thought our outside shooting could hurt. I think this area has improved but can our girls defend off the dribble?
Even if that is a deficiency (which I will not concede until I see a couple of games) good team defense can greatly minimize that shortcoming.
When 100%, Nika does a very good job; Mir shows enough quickness to take some charges.
And, if as advertised, Caroline Ducharme (aka sneaky) should be able to pick some pockets.
JMHO

i agree, it will have to be Mir and Aubrey who need to step up here. Hopefully we dont run into any guards like Arizona had last year.

I agree regarding Nika. If she can stay healthy this year and work on the fouls - she'll be an ace defender. I think she has the potential to be the womens version of "Ryan Boatright"

Wowwwwwwwwwwwww I am shocked, thrilled but shocked Barker picked Georgia. Always nice to see new schools get top recruits. Surprised that Georgia's hc was not rumored for the Baylor job.

Joni Taylor was heavily rumored to replace Mulkey.

wonder if she got it offered or Georgia decided to match her pay. Either way the SEC is going to be so interesting. SC, LSU, Georgia, Miss st still solid, Kentucky with Howard, and A&M
