I was disappointed we didn't get Cliff initially. Wondering if Tarris overall ceiling higher than Cliff, especially offensively. As he rounds off the edges, he's going to be formidable. Hurley and Moore pounding Defense and Rebounding into him will make him a heck of a package at 5.
It's obviously too early to use this for anything but a fun fact, but fun fact..

Cliff Omoruyi: 9.8 PPG, 7.8 APG, 2.5 stocks per game (my new favorite stat), 77.8% FG
Tarris Reed: 12.7 PPG, 9.7 RPG, 1.7 stocks per game, 76.5% FG

Cliff was one of the hottest players in the portal and Tarris was a "loser" from Michigan. And we get Tarris for another year

Great points! I’d take Tarris for all of the reasons you stated. He may not have the length that cliff dows but he’s definitely the better all around player with higher upside.

Their moms played together. There was no connection with Clingan. I'm pretty sure they met for the first time when he visited Storrs. I could be wrong about that. What I suspect I'm not wrong about is that the kid hasn't spent a second thinking about playing at UConn since he committed to Duke. This idea that he "regrets" his decision is goofy. He's going to be the 1 or 1a story all season on - as much as we hate to admit the - the highest profile team in college basketball. If he loses in the Sweet Sixteen he's going to be in Miami a day later preparing to be the #1 pick in the NBA draft. He's not going to cry himself to sleep about what might have been in Storrs. I hope this stuff doesn't go on all year.
I do not think Cam Spencer, Newton or Clingan ever regretted choosing UConn and can thank they’re lucky stars that they had the chance to play for Hurley and his crew. On the other hand if a kid wants to go to Duke just because of the name, and be on the losing end of many close games playing for Scheyer then so be it.

I know I'm going to jinx it but figured let's get the laugh in now while we can. At the half in Syracuse, Youngstown State leads the fruit 38-31. Lol

What’s Cooley doing? BE needs at least one of Nova or Gtown to be good again.

Over five decades and he was a great coach and a great recruiter. But he is no Hurley

K's career > Hurley's. It's not even close. Hurley could pass K, and it looks like he has the skill set to do so. But he'll need to stay at an elite level for the next 20 years.

K had crème de la crème to work with every year, 5 stars lined up. He did great things but look at what Calhoun had to work with and for that matter Hurley. What was Sanogo’s ranking?
And look at Dukes roster this year.
Hurley though now is getting recruits at that level, just now.

I was hoping they would lose this conference game. So they would be 2-1 in whatever conference they are in. When they play the rematch game at youngsttwn. I think they have the advantage against cuse. Rivalries are tough.

Cuse and YSU in OT.

EDIT: Double OT after Cuse led by as many as 8.

Scheyer…brings all this talent so two guys can take 40 shots in a game. He doesn’t know how to coach a team, no real system. 12 assists on 28 made baskets…UK with Pope 17/25. Duke 17% on 3s…As far as the ending, Scheyer just puts it in Flaggs hands to go win it for Duke, doesn’t draw up anything to get the ball to the guy in the best position to score….Im happy for Pope, and strangeky enough, somewhat sad for Flagg.
Scheyers deficiencies were clear in his first year. They are still there. He just isn’t a very good in game coach. Maybe he’ll get there one day

I will point out that when Koach K first came to Duke people wanted to fire him after the first few years. He really struggled through a few losing seasons after Bill Foster retired and left Duke, after bringing them to the National Championship game with stars Mike Gminski and Jim Spanarkle.
