November General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

I’m never gonna jump on all portal team. They showed some serious talent and gelling this week.

Why does this place take it so offensive if another team is more talented? My gawd the tribal mentality. It’s ok people. Anything can happen in a one game format and the talent gap isn’t that wide.
There’s a difference between “I’m offended” and “What you said is dumb” and you can never seem to figure that out

What’s dumb about it? Easy to call something dumb, but offer me some context to why it’s dumb. I know you love jumping on here and just attacking people with no context, just to be a dick.

Purdue front court is very strong with Cluff and 7' 3" Jacobsen off the bench and All American TKR at the 4.
Can't wait until they play Michigan

Here’s the thing - Ive been consistent all year saying we are a top 4 team. It’s ok some of these more unproven teams can come together and look better than our perceived upside based on roster and eye test. I was surprised by what I saw, but that was 3 games and consistent.

You’re not exactly flawless in the tribal direction. Have you ever recognized that most of your takes are all point one way? UConn defensive.
Yes, I'm a UConn fan so I tend to support UConn. I prefer not to hate everyone on our roster

He’s impossible to have a debate with because he’s constantly moving the goal post. First it was there bigger than us. Once that was deemed as not meaning “better” he moved to more talented. When those of us actually went through the roster and refuted that as at best being debatable, now we’re all just being homers and don’t want to give Michigan credit.

Maybe , just maybe UConn has all five starters in preseason award watchlist. UConn beat a top 10 team without their MCDAA. UConn should’ve beaten a top 4 team down their best player and MCDAA. If you removed Mara and Yaxel from Michigan(Reed, Mullins) what would they look like?

.-.
@RuffRuff for arguments sake, if you removed Mara and Yaxel from Michigan, what would they look like?

Better or worse than UConn without Reed and Mullins?

You are taking away their two biggest advantages. A massive rim protector and a huge do everything 3 are major matchup up challenges. I’d say UConn is the better team, as they have more bench pieces to cover.

Taking away Reed is taking away our biggest advantage. We can’t rebound without him. Mullins is arguably our most complete wing as well. Definitely one of our best shooters.

But just to be clear. Michigan in the same predicament UConn is in, isn’t as good?

But they are somehow more talented ?

Got it, so you've been irrationally enthralled with every other team's freshmen for months but UConn's we have to wait and see. I know you like to try and maintain this sense of superiority and remain "objective" but the reality is you just really hate this entire UConn roster
I think he and everyone else was enthralled because we saw them excelling early on. Once we saw the proof, then people gave them the credit.

We've seen one exhibition game from Mullins who showed some really good things. But I wouldn't say it's at the level of some of the freshman who's currently averaging close to 20 a game to start off.

Taking a first team AA and POY candidate is a lot to take away. We should probably just let this one play out. Goal posts do move because additional games offer new insights, especially this early in. I hadn’t even seen more than a half worth of Michigan prior to this week.

Me hating players is as hyperbolic as it gets. I offer details that explain my why I don’t trust certain players. I’d love for all of our players to be all world.

We have no idea how he’s going to “fit”. It’s as much about that as it is his talent. How do we use him, how good defensively is he, does he provide offense other than 3s? What I’m confident in is that he can shoot. I’m not certain about the other areas of his game.

You can’t argue with what Michigan was able to do last night. They’re undeniably final 4 caliber, but I’ve got to see more to say they are clearly better than the rest of the country, UConn included.

As others pointed out, they looked very out of sorts a few times this year against bad teams already. I don’t have much faith in Elliot Cadeau running a championship team. Lendenborg is a monster though.

I think we may have differing opinions on how good Taris Reed is. Because that first sentence described him imo. Look at his numbers.

And I agree it’s a lot to take away. Which makes what UConn has been doing even more impressive

Neoklis Avdalas is having a good freshman year but he hasn't come anywhere close to repeating his performance against Providence in any of the games before or after.

I think really highly of Tarris. I’ve been one of the first recognize how talented Tarris is. Im not sure we use him as effectively as we can. He’s not nearly the all around contributor that Yaxel is, can’t just take over on ball, pass, dribble.

We should just let this one play out. I’ll say that as of now, I think both teams can win it, but UM has more stacked talent.

Caleb Wilson with another ridiculous highlight reel dunk, he seems good for at least one per game

Agree on the conclusion that we can both win it

Our Kenpom has risen like a phoenix from its ashes up to 13 after falling like a rock to 16 this week

Every time I worry about this team I remember we manhandled the MSU team that will probably be #5 this week if they win today
