November General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

Very weird because it says 13 minutes on ESPN but I watched for a bit and didn’t see him at all. He also has no stats.
Yea there's no way he played 13 minutes, maybe they're adding 1 in front of the 3(ish) minutes I saw him. He had one assist that led to a 3 and then got passed an end of shot clock grenade for a missed 3 in the minutes that I saw him.

Meanwhile SIUE is taking it to Wisconsin (early but fun when early and still tied 10-10)

Darrion Williams was a great portal pickup for NC State, not just a scorer he can pass well also. Tech couldn't afford to retain him with all of their booster money?

They spilt like 4mm on Toppin, as well as the kid from Wazzu.

We were on Williams lightly before AK decided to return. Kid is legit - a dawg, great all around player. Could see Landrew in his mold. I watched a little Landrew - boy is he thick for a 3.

Now that you mention him I think Watts committed while Williams was still in the draft. Similar skillset while playing basically at a "midmajor", I could see Watts being a less expensive alternative to Williams. And yes, Landrew does seem to be in that Williams/Watts mold where you could play him as a 3/4.

On another note Nowell hasn't played a minute this 2nd half and it's not like Lewis is playing well. Maybe he got hurt, if not we might see a certain trainer/father have a meltdown on social media.

Houston got three 5*s? Fertitta must be writing checks .

Fleming and Harwell are composite five stars but 247 has them as four stars, though still top 25 players in the class. Either way, yeah they got a haul as good as (or better than) UConn's before Adams departed.

Composite is king

Composite is king

I usually agree, but I went with the 247 ranking because the composite has something like 29 five stars, which is kind of insane.

I just saw this interesting piece on reddit. This is pretty crazy to me. There always seems to be some upsets to start the season.

"We are at 15 days (and counting) since the season started with no unranked teams beating a ranked AP opponent. This is the longest since the AP Poll started releasing a preseason poll in 1961-62 and also includes up to 1988-89, where the AP Poll only had 20 teams. The previous longest was a 13-day tie between 2003 and 1979. However, 1979 should have a caveat that there was a 12 day gap between the single game to open the season and when everyone else started on November 30th."

Kansas at Duke tonight at 9:00. No Darryn Peterson for KU (Hamstring) so Kansas about to go 0-2 against the best of the ACC. I wish I knew why they played both UNC and Duke on the road in the same season.

I don't typically trust reddit but crazy if true.

between the Arkansas game and now this first half vs Kentucky, Mich State looks better than what I was expecting this season. exhibition or not, both UConn and Mich State played their starters heavy minutes deep into the game and our guys handled them pretty easily without Reed and Mullins

Izzo is just a better coach than Pope. UK is just launching grenades
Pope has run the same offense for awhile, it's not horrible but like Bama it can bring a lot of variable to a game. This game is a good example of the negative.

He’s run the same offense and hasn’t won as much as a conference title.

It’s soft - and requires hitting threes. The best systems impose their will. This is a beat down.

Pope on fraud watch. I don’t even think this Mich St team is good.

And the difference between this and Bama is bama relies on paint touches creating open threes. UK is just launching grenades because they have nothing else in their arsenal

MSU on absolute fire from 3, 11-21 and slaughtering them on the glass.

And agree. As we saw with the Bama game, these systems open up a lot of weakness where toughness happens (paint). Getting Qaintenance will help.

Mich St celebrating like they haven’t been there before lmao

Kentucky's roster is the biggest waste of $22 million. Couldn't they have gotten more talent for that much money? It just makes no sense and never did.
