November General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

I don't even know what to say or if this was a typo, but ESPN has Hannah Hidalgo on Notre Dame WBB scoring 44, 9 rebounds and 16 STEALS.

Edit: I know it's WBB, but I couldn't NOT comment on that headline.
lol I was gonna post the graphic with her statline but I figured the sensitive bunch on here would start their crying. I already know she's hell on ballhandlers but when I saw that statline going around on twitter I figured it was one of those fake posts troll accounts make to go viral, 16 steals in only 28 minutes is insane, and I believe she broke the D1 record that she had already previously held.

She’s incredibly good but that’s like me against my 7 year old type stuff.

I don’t think it is completely fair to say BC has no fan base. Part of their problem is related to their success in changing focus from a local “suitcase” school to a national one. Their rather modest alumni base is no longer found 20 minutes from Boston. Back in the Flutie days, and honestly they were a pretty popular before and well after Flutie left. It fluctuated by success but during Ryan’s years they were a pretty big deal for example. Historically BC had its own “subway alumni” of sorts associated with every Catholic parish in Greater Boston and every one of them had a group of BC alums in the pews. Plus remember on the basketball side they were very good. Over the years they had Bob Cousy, Chuck Daly, Dr Tom Davis, Gary Williams, Jim O’Brien…not exactly a list of horrible coaches.

Now they have bad teams a small local alumni base (last time I looked there were more UConn grads in Greater Boston than BC grads). And there really isn’t the same connection that UConn has with its fans being the state university. If they had good exciting teams they might capture the local imagination again. But they haven’t done that so they won’t. And I think it is probably tougher to do it the longer you go without winning and without a local fan base.

Gotta root for Bama over Purdue tonight so it’s stays a really good L for SJU all season, who in turn might beat us

My God, Capel cannot coach. WVU up >20 under 4 remaining. Several points where a TO had to be called during big WVU runs and disorganized Pitt offense, but Capel sat on his hands.

Nice to have TKR back. Completely different team with him on the court
Good first half by both teams

Maybe so but F the SEC. I hate everything about that conference. The more Ls the better so we don’t have to listen to their propaganda machine tell us how “it just means more”.

Nice having two all Americans on your team
Big road win for Boilermakers!
I am confused. BY experts told me Purdue stinks but they beat the Alabama team that beat St John’s. Especially when St John was at home and Alabama was home team against Purdue.

Huge win for Purdue. They're good.
Absolutely manhandled them on the boards, 52-28. Why couldn't STJ do that? They got outrebounded by Bama. Basically challenged the Bama model by taking away the layup and making them shoot the three, and they shot a lot of those, 44 of 66 shots, which is insane. Great gameplan by Painter, not sure why Pitino didn't think of it. Clearly KDR makes a difference.
